I loved Boston, met some great people, and had plenty of good times, but attending this school for f...our years is an enormous economic risk.
The purpose of earning a college degree is to better prepare students for the real world. The education was well above average, however there is an excess of state universities that offer educations that are just as good, if not better than what is offered at BU.
A "brand name" school does hold inherent value, however, as employers will be more impressed by a more prestigious name. Despite a strong name, BU's academic programs seem to severely lack relationships with corporations. Students can of course apply for internships on their own accord, however BU does little to guarantee its students will gain such professional experience, putting its value behind those of other schools offering more practical, immersive programs.
A ton of money is spent on the research being done at BU, and the findings are very impressive. Unfortunately, this means that the professors will care much more about their research than the classes they teach, so overall, undergrads shouldn't expect to gain much at all from the quality of research. עוד
