It is lovely. Though it's iron, it is still elegant. It is also very well made. The owner shipped out much quicker than I thought and this was even a custom order!

I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my dad, who recently installed a nice BBQ in their backyard. I wanted him to have the bell for when my parents have company over to signify that the meal is ready. He loves it and said it's a perfect touch. Thank you!

Welcome to Acorn Hill Handcrafts! Our family of four lives on an off-grid homestead in Northeast Missouri (http://homestead-honey.com). There, we work with a variety of natural materials, many of them sourced sustainably from our land.

Our metalwork is hand-forged steel, crafted using traditional blacksmithing techniques: a coal forge, and a hammer and anvil to work it while it's red hot and malleable. The metal pieces are wire brushed, sometimes finished with a patina, and finished with a simple furniture wax that allows the deep color and texture of the metal to shine through. Occasionally we use a flat black enamel for a different look.
The wood we craft has either been rescued from slash piles, or salvaged and milled from wind-felled trees. We also work with historic reclaimed barn wood, saved before demolition.
We seal our wood with only natural, non-petroleum, food grade finishes. They contain flaxseed, tung, and jojoba oils, beeswax, and small amounts of pine rosin and orange oil.
