A537 revealed to be Britain's most dangerous road

The most dangerous road in Great Britain has been revealed as the A537 between Macclesfield and Buxton - known as the Cat and Fiddle - in the Peak District. There were 23 fatal or serious collisions on that 11.6km stretch of road between 2010 and 2015.

Cars older the 40 years to be exempt from MOT test in 2018

An additoinal 300,000 cars in Britain will no longer need an MOT test from next year under new rules that will see any model older than 40 years exempt from the annual roadworthiness check-up. Currently, only vehicles built or first registered before 1960 are exempt from the MOT test. It will mean around 1.5% of all cars used on the road today will not need to pass the mechanical examination - and many people are concerned about the dangers of unchecked older vehicles.
