So before FreshBooks, I had a bunch of different systems, Stripe, a random app called Cashboard app, I believe it was called. I was using Harvest. I was using all of these different disparate apps that just the user interface was horrible. The experience for my clients when they received my estimates, proposals, my invoices. It's just the user interface was not great at all, and people got confused. With FreshBooks, it's not like that at all.
Before FreshBooks, my profit and loss statement was it just took a long time to get with FreshBooks because it is pulling in my bank transactions. It's seamless. It's fast. My accountant and my tax guy love it. But yeah, before FreshBooks, I just had trouble finding a system that looked good, worked very nicely, and was what my business and my clients needed.
I chose FreshBooks because, first and foremost, their support team is amazing. In all of my prior tools in very few of the other apps I use for my business, FreshBooks support team, they're fast. They're knowledgeable. They're friendly. But the biggest thing is they care about you and your business, and they want to help you succeed. With some of the prior apps, just they wanted to make sure that you could use their product, but there wasn't a feeling that they really had your back. And I love that since FreshBooks is such a huge, huge component of my business, I mean, if FreshBooks doesn't work correctly, well, I can't get paid, I can't send out proposals, I can't look at my quarterly earning so that I know how much to pay to the IRS for my quarterly taxes.
So FreshBooks is one of those programs where it's so integral to my business. And the user interface always works. Their development team is great. They are very open to user feedback. I have sent them and actually maintain a list of things that I would love for them to improve or add onto the product. And I know for a fact, some of my suggestions over the years have been implemented. So unlike FreshBooks and some of the others, these guys just really care, and in a world where you have a lot of competitors with FreshBooks, and really any app for that matter, it just really is wonderful that they want to support your business and you know they care about you and your business, and that just goes a long way. So that's why I use FreshBooks and chose it.
So in terms of setup with FreshBooks, obviously, there were several different components with FreshBooks that you have to set up. I personally was using FreshBooks for a multitude of things in my business. So one of the things I had to set up was my brand, so I wanted to add my logo, my company colors, fonts, all of that stuff. That was really easy to do. It took me probably 30 seconds, maybe 45 seconds, to upload and get that stuff done.
Adding a bank account, so that it would download all my expense transactions, that was fairly seamless as well. You put in your bank's username, password. They have a great system that they integrated, and that just started working. It's fairly intuitive to set up invoices and track your time, even though I don't bill by the hour, but their functionality for that is actually really good to set up. And in general, the whole setup just was seamless and worked well. And I had a couple simple questions that their support team answered pretty easily for me. And that is it. Really easy to get started and would not hesitate to do it again.
With FreshBooks, the one thing I would say with choosing FreshBooks over any of the other tools out there, QuickBooks Online, Zoho, Xero, blah, blah, blah, there's a lot of them, is know that no system is perfect. Is FreshBooks perfect? No. Does it Excel at all the things I need to do for me and my company? Yes. So I would really recommend knowing what your business requirements are for the system that you are looking to implement, and just make sure that FreshBooks ticks all of those boxes.
If you're not sure, call their support guys because their sales team, their support team, they're all good. They want to help you. So just know what your business requirements are, and just select FreshBooks, because odds are it'll be very easy for you to use and set up. And it's just all about knowing what your business needs and not be wishy-washy about it. And know that your business is something you should be very serious about, and so just take your selection of FreshBooks seriously.

Overall: FreshBooks is exceptional in its simplicity of use, making it a great choice for any business's accounting needs. In the beginning, it helped us save time by allowing us to automate a few procedures. Create polished invoices that will impress your customers in no time at all.
Pros: Through FreshBooks' Project and tracking function, monitoring project costs is a breeze. Using the Project feature makes billing a breeze. There is a clean design to the user interface that makes navigating swiftly and easily possible. It's possible to modify the categories of business expenses to meet specific requirements. Getting a copy to my accountants was a breeze.
Cons: As such, its capability in relation to ledgers falls short of what one may expect from a product designed for major corporations. The prior version of FreshBooks was more dependable than the current one, therefore the most recent update was a major setback for the program's reputation. The cost varies widely depending on the version you choose.

"Not right for all business types"
Overall: I chose Freshbooks based on reviews that I read about how good the customer service was and they offered a free trial, even better! However, I did not find the software to be user friendly, and when I tried contacting customer support, the "help" was lacking. I was unable to continue using the software due to the limitations and nature of my small business needs.
Pros: Finding a better alternative...honestly.
Cons: I couldn't track my money coming in, which was a pretty big deal...

"Great Invoicing Tool for Time Tracking"
Overall: Freshbooks does manage the following VERY well: Time tracking against projects and clients; invoice creation based on tracked time; and one-off invoices or flat rate pricing. I also like the clean and easy to navigate interface.Generating and reading historical reports is quick and easy to determine things like, how quickly specific clients are paying (and who is historically slower at paying), income by client and income by project/work type.The phone app is functional for my needs, although it's a little clunky and not nearly as full featured as the desktop software. It's not bad, but not great. I have successfully tracked time on the app, then issued an invoice from my phone to my client's email inbox.Overall, Freshbook fulfills my needs as a consultant.
Pros: I really like Freshbooks for it's easy invoicing and time tracking. I was able to integrate it with Teamwork project management software so that more complex jobs that require detailed time tracking against tasks and milestones could be tracked there and then my time could be exported to Freshbooks. Freshbooks also integrated with my Paypal gateway, allowing me to accept major credit cards.
Cons: Freshbooks collaboration with other contractors doesn't work very well. In addition, the per-client pricing has gotten pricey for those of us who have many one-off clients.The retainer payments feature was not easy to use.

"Great value for what you pay."
Pros: Because of its simple invoicing and time tracking. I greatly appreciate Freshbooks. I was able to combine it with the Teamwork project management program so that more difficult projects that call for in-depth time monitoring against tasks and deadlines could be recorded there and then my time could be sent to Freshbooks. I can now accept all major payment cards thanks to Freshbooks' integration with my Paypal gateway.
Cons: This is a serious oversight on the part of the accounting department. If you're a Quickbooks user, you understand the value of double-entry bookkeeping, comprehensive reporting with punchouts, and an instant dashboard for profitability. With Freshbooks, this is not the situation. At year's end, you'll need an accountant to assist you. Due to its disbelief in a cash-based accounting system, ours had to be rebuilt.

"Love FreshBooks"
Overall: FreshBooks is a very good experience for me and since I've been using it I love it a lot! There is just minor features I think that maybe needs to be changed ... Like the invoice creator.
Pros: I like creating invoices and also the ledger I like the most as it's been extremely helpful.
Cons: The thing I like least would be if I create invoices I can't move anything around on it, that would be good to do so in the future.

Pros: Completely convenient and easy. I find that overall this is a great program I use to start designing for businesses automatically. Can be combined with other apps I am using. No more spending weeks billing and sending to customers. Freshbooks will create an invoice and send it out in seconds send suggestions, track my time, invoice clients and adjust my costs for financial reporting, all in one easy-to-use. Track and control account simply, no longer spend too much effort because of many types of account simply each day. Smart reporting system combined with easy and effective teamwork place.
Cons: FreshBooks is designed with auto-leveling and data checking to ensure all numbers are accurate and logical. But since our trades are so accurate, I don't have any negative points

"Easy no nonsense accounting platform"
Overall: I had been using a widely regarded accounting competitor whose system was way more than I needed. FreshBooks allowed me to consolidate several platforms into one - saving me money and time.
Pros: FreshBooks allows me to create estimates & send proposals, track my time, invoice clients and reconcile my expenses for financial reporting all in one easy to use place. I was using 3 different platforms before to do all of this.
Cons: It would be nice to have slightly more robust accounting functionality but for the most part it does everything I need it to do. I'd like to be able to track time by quantity rather than just duration.
Reasons for Choosing FreshBooks: FB seemed the least complicated. I didn't need my accounting product to be my virtual assistant, I needed it to make bookkeeping easy for me so I could run my business.

"FreshBooks as a Photographer (solo small business)"
Overall: I have been using FreshBooks for over 2-years and am currently using it. I used FreshBooks a long time ago when they were new and more minimal. It has been great to see them grow up. The cost is a bit steep so I may not continue to use them -- I'm 50/50 at the moment. If they provided more value for the cost I would consider it a good investment, but paying for a CRM on top of that is expensive. Overall I do love the software!
Pros: I love the clean and friendly UX of FreshBooks! It is a pretty efficient piece of software that helps me get paid quickly and easily. I feel it has grown up so much over the years too. Invoicing is super easy and tracking expenses. Those are my primary base needs to run my business.
Cons: I do wish that entering client information was a bit more intuitive as I feel like I'm doing input for a client into my contacts, importing it to my CRM, and then hand inputting into FreshBooks again feels redundant. I would really really really love to see a Mac App to complete the mobility and desktop experience. I dislike having to open a web page to manage things on a daily basis.
Alternatives Considered: Billings Pro and QuickBooks Desktop Pro
Reasons for Choosing FreshBooks: FreshBooks just seemed more intuitive. QuickBooks has a long history of being bulky and complicated and expensive software. I keep looking at Billings Pro because I use DayLite now so we will see. :) I think FreshBooks is more advanced.

Reasons for Switching to FreshBooks: I switched over primarily because the invoicing in Moon Invoice was manual, they did not have a way for clients to make quick and easy payments. I would have to go into PayPal, and create a link with PayPal.me and copy/paste this with my emailed invoices, it was not efficient by any means. I had used FreshBooks previously and 17Hats a long time ago. I opted to try FreshBooks again and have been using it since. The cost of Moon Invoice is what really drew me in as it was $20/annually.

"Great Invoicing Software for Designers"
Overall: Freshbooks has a cleaner and more user friendly interface than any accounting software that I've used. My CPA complains that the back end is not as robust as Quickbooks, but other than that, it's the best for creatives in my opinion
Pros: I love the ability to create proposals with pictures and a client signature line. Also, the app is pretty great.
Cons: I'd like to be able to add pictures through the app, but it's never worked. The back end for taxes and reconciling found be better according to my cpa

In fact, FreshBooks enables Google Checkout, PayPal, and credit card payments, and integrates with a long list of business systems and applications that can streamline this process. With it, odds are good that you will unite financial control in a single system, and stop paying for the maintenance of complex software infrastructure.
A considerable advantage of FreshBooks compared to other accounting apps is the availability of fully-functional mobile apps and add-ons you can get for Android and iOS devices. The apps allow you to bring the power and convenience of the software on location, and do accounting and access records whenever you wish to do so. As you can see, FreshBooks literally takes finances out of the office, but does so in a safe and seamless fashion.
Cons: Despite a wide range of excellent features users have pointed out a few minor things that can be improved in FreshBooks: its metrics, goal setting, and reporting features can be better. One user also found bugs in FreshBooks email click-throughs and automated expenses which did not function to his liking. Apart from these insignificant glitches, hoever, there is no doubt that FreshBooks is a top notch accounting product that can bring a lot to your accounting deparatament.

"Great product paired to the friendliest support in financial software."
Overall: The biggest benefit we receive is how easy it is to send invoices and get paid online. Freshbooks makes this a lot easier than some of the other solutions we've tried over the years.
Pros: Freshbooks is a simple and straight-forward accounting solution. It's delivered with relatively small amount of standard accounting categories so you're not overwhelmed placing expenses into their proper buckets and adding new categories is quite easy.
Our business doesn't have a ton of complex expenses - and if yours does, Freshbooks might not be a good fit. What we love about Freshbooks is how straight-forward their invoicing system has been. It's easy to create recurring invoicing and it integrates with popular credit card processors to facilitate easy online payments.
Perhaps the attribute that has kept us with Freshbooks through the years is their customer service - it's amazing. Customer service has always been super friendly, easy to understand, and they always seen eager to help. This interest and willingness to be helpful goes a long way.
Cons: The only con we've experienced with Freshbooks is their limited subscription levels. We've exceed their standard top level package but we're not quite big enough to financially justify a custom/enterprise package. It seems Freshbooks is ideal for customers with a lot of recurring transactions - which, we have more individual transactions than recurring so this is part of our problem. Regardless, Freshbooks staff has always been quite helpful in offering up solutions to help us make the most of our subscription limits (500 active clients).

Overall: Fresh Book is easy to use accounting software. It has smart features that take charge of all the accounting applications. It is comparatively cheaper to other software. The small entrepreneurs gets immense satisfaction from the use of FreshBooks despite few constraints.
Pros: It is one of the most popular world wide cloud computing application. It is helpful to small categories of entreprenuers. It has smart features of Accounting having comprehensive applications of Invoices, Expenses, Time Tracking, Mobile, Projects, Estimates, Payments and Reports. It set the business in Autopilot. It keep the client focussed and first by producing correct billing within the timeline.It gives stable cash flow along with the upcoming workload and income Any changes in the project is highlighted which may cause any impact on the business along with the new budget. Generate regular summary reports to keep the client first and updated. It is the one easy tool that keep tracks to invoices and expenses and reports without any fail.
Cons: The biggest drawbacks of Fresh Books are the term section of the invoice. It is not user-based. Any change in the terms of a particular invoice leads to change all the future invoices. The term amendment is client-based. Manual operation is always needed to keep the term of the invoice on track.
When the number of clients increases, the user look for more add-in option which becomes costlier.
The mobile App needs more updating as some of the features do not work well.
The reporting of data is not adequate as it does not have hyperlinks.
The application needs more options for the late fees which are not adequate.
Need addition of projects to make it smoother for the clients.

"Freshbooks is Worth the Money Spent, Could Use Some Improvements"
Overall: Overall, I am satisfied with Freshbooks. It is helpful to have contractors track their time in an efficient way, as well as invoice and bill clients. There are also 3rd party platforms that integrate with Freshbooks to make workflows easier (Basecamp, Mailform, Hubspot).
Pros: Invoicing and billing is easy with Freshbooks. I like the recurring billing feature, automatic payments for clients, and the ability to track time against projects.
Cons: I have been using this platform for a long time and like it better than others, like Harvest. However, I dislike the following:
-That when a project is archived by an administrator, contractors assigned to the projects can still access it and track time on it. Since the project does not come up on the administrator's end, this can go on for months without the administrator realizing. This causes inaccurate time tracking and has led us to go over hours on several projects
-There is not a more simple way to merge contacts. Sometimes duplicates happen when Freshbooks integrates with another platform, like Hubspot. Also, sometimes more than one contact is saved for the same company. There is not a simple way to merge them without entering and deleting manually.
-For recurring invoices, you have to select how many invoices are "remaining," which gets confusing. If you want to send 5 monthly invoices, does the first invoice count as a "remaining" invoice or should you select that you are sending 4 "remaining" invoices? There should be a way to just choose an end date

"started out great ... still good"
Overall: still love it and it relly did change how i do and think about bissness its ashame i dont quite feel i can not use them as my 360 exsample of from product to marketing to customer srvice that i used to but i have hope they will fix some of the software interface quicks and make them simple and as easy as before , as i used to love recommeding them and still would for there customer service alone
Pros: super easy to use and got me up and running stright away any issues i had i called them right up and boom sombody on the other side of the phone no robo call deal a real knolagable human telling me how to fix it , there marketing and custmoer service blew me away so much i used them as a exsample of how it sholuld be done to my clients
Cons: few little things with the old software like quirks in exspences that we found work arounds , but then moving to the new software i am still getting used to is but no paypal payment now not a big deal also harder to find old invoices and clients its just very diffrent but still seems to work ok and the customer service is still great so im sticking with it for now , i can see how it looks better and wants to be better but it just feels less intuative and simple , yet i know thats what they are going for just my poinion , oh and the serch is now super tough for me as a dyslexic as you have to spell out 3 to four letters befour it give me options making it very frustrating almost usless

"Perfect for all of your accounting "
Overall: Definitely fantastic for time tracking and billing your customers. Nice invoices and easy for the client to pay on the other end. Overall I have stuck with it for a good long time and I like it enough that I haven't even looked to change it.
Pros: I have had this software since it was a free program. I use it for time tracking and invoicing my real estate clients. It works seamlessly with Stripe which moves my credit card payments to my bank for a small fee. The cost is very reasonable and if I had a staff of any kind I could give them some access to be able to bill for their hours etc. I now use the extension on chrome to login and track my hours which is incredibly handy and I dont have to have a window open just for that, it works in the background of all the open tabs. Overall I very much like it.
Cons: As I mentioned I have had the program since it started as a free account and I now pay for the lowest paid account as it is just me. I would love to be able to have some of the other accounting features and add my other business to it but that costs more. My biggest wish would be that they might include a few of them into the cheaper account as I am sure most people need the ones like account balancing etc. Also, it would be helpful if you did not also have to pay for another system like Stripe to get the money from your account to your bank.

"Easy invoicing and time tracking for freelancers, plus lots of cool stuff I don't use"
Overall: I am a freelance editor and I use Freshbooks to track my hours and expenses, and invoice customers. With Freshbooks you can also do estimates (I only do them for my own records, but you can send also quotes to clients), assign different rates to different tasks, and even work with subcontractors (which I haven't done yet).
Freshbooks lets you get paid really easily -- you can connect it to PayPal, or even accept credit cards. (You take a bit of a hit on fees but you get paid FAST.)
You can customize Freshbooks with your colors and logo, so when you send invoices they look very professional and expensive. (That inspires confidence in your clients and encourages repeat business, and also lets them know you're no chump and they better pay you fast.)
You can also use Freshbooks to keep track of expenses and receipts. It makes tax season ridiculously easy. Well.... easier.
There's also an app for your phone so you can track time and expenses, and probably even send invoices, when you're out without your computer.
Tech support is good, fast, and friendly. There is tons of information on the website, too. When I ask for help with something, they usually take the time to go to my account and do screenshots with my own data showing me exactly how to do what I asked about!
Yeah, it seems expensive, but when I think about all the time I would otherwise spend doing invoices, tracking time and expenses, and putting together tax information, it's actually pretty reasonable.

"Long time customer. Change cuts both ways"
Overall: We have developed all of our solutions around fresh books from customizations in our workflow processing to selecting an accounting firm that will support our dependence and comfort with this platform. There is not yet total functional parity between the "old fresh books" and new fresh books... but it is coming along...and the support is always outstanding while they get there
Pros: Hands-down the most impressive aspect of fresh books is the customer support. Monotonous tasks or more complicated requirements are approached by a customer support team that answers the phone instantly and works to help you get your work done. The advances that have been made especially in the payment handling utilizing the Advanced payment feature, which is an additional cost, has revolutionize the way our business is able to store and process payments using their PCI compliant service
Cons: The willingness for FreshBooks to hold onto it it's more humble roots and allow long time small business or individuals to use their legacy accounts has declined quite significantly and it is not a good cultural shift. I have a harder time recommending freshbooks if for a small start up there is a cost on top of a learning curve. There needs to be a free tear if they are going to maintain the businesses that haven't got off the ground yet

So before FreshBooks, I had a bunch of different systems, Stripe, a random app called Cashboard app, I believe it was called. I was using Harvest. I was using all of these different disparate apps that just the user interface was horrible. The experience for my clients when they received my estimates, proposals, my invoices. It's just the user interface was not great at all, and people got confused. With FreshBooks, it's not like that at all.
Before FreshBooks, my profit and loss statement was it just took a long time to get with FreshBooks because it is pulling in my bank transactions. It's seamless. It's fast. My accountant and my tax guy love it. But yeah, before FreshBooks, I just had trouble finding a system that looked good, worked very nicely, and was what my business and my clients needed.
I chose FreshBooks because, first and foremost, their support team is amazing. In all of my prior tools in very few of the other apps I use for my business, FreshBooks support team, they're fast. They're knowledgeable. They're friendly. But the biggest thing is they care about you and your business, and they want to help you succeed. With some of the prior apps, just they wanted to make sure that you could use their product, but there wasn't a feeling that they really had your back. And I love that since FreshBooks is such a huge, huge component of my business, I mean, if FreshBooks doesn't work correctly, well, I can't get paid, I can't send out proposals, I can't look at my quarterly earning so that I know how much to pay to the IRS for my quarterly taxes.
So FreshBooks is one of those programs where it's so integral to my business. And the user interface always works. Their development team is great. They are very open to user feedback. I have sent them and actually maintain a list of things that I would love for them to improve or add onto the product. And I know for a fact, some of my suggestions over the years have been implemented. So unlike FreshBooks and some of the others, these guys just really care, and in a world where you have a lot of competitors with FreshBooks, and really any app for that matter, it just really is wonderful that they want to support your business and you know they care about you and your business, and that just goes a long way. So that's why I use FreshBooks and chose it.
So in terms of setup with FreshBooks, obviously, there were several different components with FreshBooks that you have to set up. I personally was using FreshBooks for a multitude of things in my business. So one of the things I had to set up was my brand, so I wanted to add my logo, my company colors, fonts, all of that stuff. That was really easy to do. It took me probably 30 seconds, maybe 45 seconds, to upload and get that stuff done.
Adding a bank account, so that it would download all my expense transactions, that was fairly seamless as well. You put in your bank's username, password. They have a great system that they integrated, and that just started working. It's fairly intuitive to set up invoices and track your time, even though I don't bill by the hour, but their functionality for that is actually really good to set up. And in general, the whole setup just was seamless and worked well. And I had a couple simple questions that their support team answered pretty easily for me. And that is it. Really easy to get started and would not hesitate to do it again.
With FreshBooks, the one thing I would say with choosing FreshBooks over any of the other tools out there, QuickBooks Online, Zoho, Xero, blah, blah, blah, there's a lot of them, is know that no system is perfect. Is FreshBooks perfect? No. Does it Excel at all the things I need to do for me and my company? Yes. So I would really recommend knowing what your business requirements are for the system that you are looking to implement, and just make sure that FreshBooks ticks all of those boxes.
If you're not sure, call their support guys because their sales team, their support team, they're all good. They want to help you. So just know what your business requirements are, and just select FreshBooks, because odds are it'll be very easy for you to use and set up. And it's just all about knowing what your business needs and not be wishy-washy about it. And know that your business is something you should be very serious about, and so just take your selection of FreshBooks seriously.

So before FreshBooks, I had a bunch of different systems, Stripe, a random app called Cashboard app, I believe it was called. I was using Harvest. I was using all of these different disparate apps that just the user interface was horrible. The experience for my clients when they received my estimates, proposals, my invoices. It's just the user interface was not great at all, and people got confused. With FreshBooks, it's not like that at all.
Before FreshBooks, my profit and loss statement was it just took a long time to get with FreshBooks because it is pulling in my bank transactions. It's seamless. It's fast. My accountant and my tax guy love it. But yeah, before FreshBooks, I just had trouble finding a system that looked good, worked very nicely, and was what my business and my clients needed.
I chose FreshBooks because, first and foremost, their support team is amazing. In all of my prior tools in very few of the other apps I use for my business, FreshBooks support team, they're fast. They're knowledgeable. They're friendly. But the biggest thing is they care about you and your business, and they want to help you succeed. With some of the prior apps, just they wanted to make sure that you could use their product, but there wasn't a feeling that they really had your back. And I love that since FreshBooks is such a huge, huge component of my business, I mean, if FreshBooks doesn't work correctly, well, I can't get paid, I can't send out proposals, I can't look at my quarterly earning so that I know how much to pay to the IRS for my quarterly taxes.
So FreshBooks is one of those programs where it's so integral to my business. And the user interface always works. Their development team is great. They are very open to user feedback. I have sent them and actually maintain a list of things that I would love for them to improve or add onto the product. And I know for a fact, some of my suggestions over the years have been implemented. So unlike FreshBooks and some of the others, these guys just really care, and in a world where you have a lot of competitors with FreshBooks, and really any app for that matter, it just really is wonderful that they want to support your business and you know they care about you and your business, and that just goes a long way. So that's why I use FreshBooks and chose it.
So in terms of setup with FreshBooks, obviously, there were several different components with FreshBooks that you have to set up. I personally was using FreshBooks for a multitude of things in my business. So one of the things I had to set up was my brand, so I wanted to add my logo, my company colors, fonts, all of that stuff. That was really easy to do. It took me probably 30 seconds, maybe 45 seconds, to upload and get that stuff done.
Adding a bank account, so that it would download all my expense transactions, that was fairly seamless as well. You put in your bank's username, password. They have a great system that they integrated, and that just started working. It's fairly intuitive to set up invoices and track your time, even though I don't bill by the hour, but their functionality for that is actually really good to set up. And in general, the whole setup just was seamless and worked well. And I had a couple simple questions that their support team answered pretty easily for me. And that is it. Really easy to get started and would not hesitate to do it again.
With FreshBooks, the one thing I would say with choosing FreshBooks over any of the other tools out there, QuickBooks Online, Zoho, Xero, blah, blah, blah, there's a lot of them, is know that no system is perfect. Is FreshBooks perfect? No. Does it Excel at all the things I need to do for me and my company? Yes.
