Welcome BU Parents & Families,

Congratulations! It is almost time for your students to begin a Boston University experience. We hope that they are as excited to move to Boston as we are to welcome you and them to campus.

We at the College of General Studies and Parent & Family Programs know that there are so many things for you and your Terriers to think about and do prior to the first day of class. We, along with the rest of the BU staff, want to make this transition as smooth as possible for your family, so we’ve compiled a list of important dates:

  • Tuesday, December 10 at 3 p.m. (EST) — Parent & Family Programs Radio Show, “Know Before You Go” on the Parent & Family Programs Facebook page via Facebook Live (Please feel free to ask questions during the show or in advance of the program on Facebook or via email)
  • Friday, January 17-Saturday, January 18 — Winter Orientation
  • Friday, January 17 — Move-in for new & continuing students from 10 a.m. -4 p.m.
  • Saturday, January 18 — Parent & Family Pit Stop (a social gathering for BU families) from 3-5 p.m. at the Booth Theatre, 820 Commonwealth Avenue
  • Saturday, January 18 — Residence Hall dining begins with dinner
  • Sunday, January 19 — Move-In from 12-4 p.m. for CGS students who attended Orientation in the summer*
  • Sunday, January 19 — Parent & Family Pit Stop (a social gathering for BU families) from 3-5 p.m. at Fuller’s BU Pub, 225 Bay State Road
  • Monday, January 20 —CGS Matriculation Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. (this event is for students only but the ceremony will be live streamed on the Parent and Family Programs website)
  • Monday, January 20 — Martin Luther King, Jr. Day events (details to come)

*(CGS students who attended Orientation in the summer may move in as early as Friday, January 17th but we urge students to move in on the designated day of Sunday, January 19th,)
