At recovery sites, memories of lost loved ones keep troops focused on grave mission
The day Army Sgt. 1st Class Tommy Murphy died is still engrained into his daughter's mind.
It was April 7, 2001, and Tycoria Johnson was just 9 years old. On that Saturday, Murphy, along with six other American service members and nine Vietnamese counterparts, departed on an MI-17 helicopter to investigate a potential recovery site.

The Locketts: A story of marriage, deployments and finger guns
The Locketts came to Travis Air Force Base, California, in 2015 and in that time, what grass they have found themselves on has been plentifully watered. From Broderick’s participation in the Tuskegee Airmen heritage flight to Aisha’s work in organizing a fun run in support of the Air Force Assistance Fund, their mark on Travis has been one of compassion, hard work and pride. But being a dual-military couple hasn’t been without its challenges.

Musicians help to heal community after devastating fires
On October 8, 2017, a devastating wildfire broke out and ripped through the counties of Napa and Sonoma in Northern California.
The fire destroyed over 6,500 homes and killed over 40 people. Thousands were impacted by the disaster including musicians from the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West and Napa Valley Youth Symphony.

Exchange program strengthens bonds between NATO allies
Air Force active duty officers have the opportunity to work alongside officers from international air forces through the Military Personnel Exchange Program, a special duty assignment intended to build, sustain and expand international relationships. Capt. David Martinez Guillen, a Spanish air force pilot arrived at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, in October 2014 to begin his assignment with the 16th Airlift Squadron.
