    Turks say "we aren't against Kurds just PKK", yet here they are destroying Kurdish cultural icons. This is Kawa the ancient mesopotamian figure who freed his people from an oppressive king, and started the Kurdish-Persian holiday of Newroz by lighting a fire to symbolize freedom

    Apparently the legendary symbol of liberty, Kawa The Blacksmith, was a PKK member as well. The Baath regime of Saddam Hussein also destroyed a Kawa statue in Slemani city, in 1984.

    The very first thing Turkey publically did aftwr YPG withdrew from the city was to destroy a statue of the Kurdish mythical founding father Kaway Asinger. Do not expect anything different from what Turkey has promised. Clearing the border of a meaningful Kurdish presence.

    The true test of Turkish quality is whether they can allow pre-existing Kurdish civil-society to return after hostilities or Afrin will become another example of the ethnic-cleansing we've seen over and over again in Syria, mainly from Assad.
