V Priceless:
Hey, Matt! Psych away! |
Hey V! I am gonna fake my way through it with dirty 45s! |
Matt, the correct term for those records is "pre-loved"! |
@Gaylord: Indeed! When I get a new pile of 45s I just can't resist just throwing them on. Btw I heard your famous single over the weekend. |
@Matt: Sorry. |
@Gaylord: No I was tappin' me feet and groovin' me head! |
And here I thought you had good taste! |
Will I be seeing you at The Bangles show on Saturday? |
I'll be spending the weekend on the Jersey Shore, so no Vicki Peterson, et al., for me. |
Hi Matt -- So nice to hear this show live after a few weeks... work had me marching around. |
And, hullow dare, Gaylord! |
And I'm sure they'll be playing a lot of the "Bangs" era choons and other early, more '60s-infuenced songs. |
Hey Mr Sin! Glad you get to stay for a spell! |
@Gaylord: All reports are they playing the first EP completely |
Fancy meeting you here, Mr. Sin. Always a pleasure! |
@Matt: Aw, nuts! I love love love that record! |
Eve of Destruction? |
I meant the Bangles EP. |
That first EP is one of the greatest pieces of Beatlesque rock EVER |
Hence its appeal to a fake Beatles fan such as I. |
re: "Stepping Stone" Is there any record that more encapsulates 1966 better than this one? The E-G-A-C progression, the snotty vocals, the jungle drums, the spooky keyboards, the cut-time rave ups... all those little elements are incorporated. |
I'd love to riff with you lads on a Taxman-esque compilation |
I may know of a couple of examples, yes. |
I gotta say I think the Raiders version might edge out over the Monkees one for me... |
Other than "I'm in Line" and (of course) "Start," that is. |
My favorite contribution to the "Taxman"-esque comp: "Mr. Moonshine Man" by Herman's Hermits |
"In My Own Time" - Bee Gees |
Yes Mr Sin! That is one of the best Hermit tunes. |
Just going to say "Moonshine Man" and "In My Own Time." And the Monkees' "You Told Me" qualifies. |
"Earnest Of Being George" also the Bee Gees |
And what about the Blue Things' "One Hour Cleaners"? |
Matt, I think you now have a themes set for next April 15 or thereabouts! |
Excellent idea! I will have to you on Gaylord |
Gladly! |
