2019 Goal Tracker with the Journal Studio

Hello there!  It’s Rebecca with you for my last post of 2018!  It’s so hard to believe that the year will be over in just a few short days, isn’t it?  As I’ve been buried in the hustle, bustle, and tinsel of the holiday season, I’ve also been giving a little bit of thought to 2019 and what I’d like to do with a brand-new year.  Of course, there are the obligatory goals—exercise more, eat healthier, get more sleep, drink more water, etc.  I also always give a thought to what I’d like to accomplish as a creator.  In today’s post, I’ll give you a peek at my goal tracker and show you some of the We R Memory Keepers Journal Studio tools I used to help me stay focused.

I’m excited to finally take my graphic design up a notch with ProCreate for the iPad Pro. There are many creative areas I’d like to further develop—sketching, hand lettering, water coloring, just to name a few.  My list was getting pretty long, and I began to think I was taking on far too much.  But when I really started to think about it, I realized that many of the techniques I’d like to learn or improve could be accomplished by tackling ProCreate.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

With my list not sounding as daunting now, I set out to figure a way to track my progress.  I really wanted a way to stay accountable and focused, while keeping track of what I was learning.  I pulled out a May Designs journal which has grid pages, as well as a perpetual week in review.  I could make my tracker on one of the 2-page grid spreads and use the weekly calendar to track progress.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I turned first to the WRMK All In One Journal Tool, using several of its features on the 2-page grid spread.  My idea was to track the entire year of practice, so I used the top part of the guide to create 12-month tracker.  I made 3 circles and 12 straight lines to divide the large circle into 12 parts.  Those serve as January through December, and go in a monthly order, with January at the top.  I then drew 3 horizontal lines in each month’s column, which gave me 4 long rectangles; they represent 4 weeks per month.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Underneath the circle tracker, I’ve created my color key.  I used the Journal Tool again to make this, utilizing the 3-lined stencils and 3-circle markers.  I color-coded each circle to represent how many days per week I’ll practice ProCreate.  It’s possible I’ll allow myself weekend breaks, though I’ve included the 6-7 days/wk option in case I change my mind.  I’m looking to form productive habits with this, too, and practicing every day is the best way to establish those.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

When I finish the week, I’ll fill in the grid with the corresponding color.  (I’m keeping daily track on the weekly spread, which I’ll share later in the post.)  I’ve filled in December as an example, though I haven’t actually been keeping very good track of my practice, as it’s been few and far between this month!

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I’ve made some notes about where to find inspiration and resources in case I get stuck.  Both the “Find Inspiration” banner, as well as the half-box were made with the Journal Tool, and similar drawings are on the facing page, as well.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Speaking of the facing page, I used the Magnetic Alphabet and Symbol Stencils to trace 2019 CREATE onto the top of my page.  I covered the words with some opaque washi tape to add some color to the pages and used a few darker strips for the same purpose.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I included some of the illustration hashtags I like on Instagram, which will be another resource throughout the year.  I’ve left extra space in that box, as well as in the inspiration box, because I’ll likely find more of both in the future.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Lastly, I want to keep a list of all the art and design skills I hope daily practice in ProCreate will help to improve.  While I won’t be tracking those individually, I’d still like to keep them in mind in order to stay accountable to them.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Here’s a quick look at my week-at-a-glance, as well.  I’ve kept it simple, filling in the dates for the first week of January, and on each day, indicating a space for both the number of minutes I practiced, as well as the particular skill I worked on.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

On the opposite page, I used the Alphabet Stencils again to write THIS WEEK IN PRO CREATE.  I created a box to write notes, tips, or thoughts with the All-in-One Journal Tool, and I’ve got a spot to write down the total minutes and days practiced.  This page set up is subject to change, depending on what I want to write down each week.  I may also decide to track the week with a similar circular tracker, as well; it remains to be seen.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

I’m excited to begin, and excited to (hopefully) watch my improvement!  It’s also nice to have a notebook exclusively devoted to this goal so it’s easier to stay focused.

2019 Goal Tracker featuring the Journal Studio by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

A couple other things I wanted to mention are the Travel Workspace and Washi Spool Keychain you’ll see in the photos.  They’re a couple of handy tools that, even though I’m not traveling far (mostly from my desk to my couch or dining room table!), these hold the necessary utensils so I can work on this anywhere.  It’s got a nice hard surface on which to write, and plenty of pockets.  The Washi Spool clips onto it, and the outside is soft felt so it’s gentle when I’m carrying it with my iPad.  It doesn’t get handier than that!

New Year’s Eve Confetti Favors

Hey there We R friends, Laura here today! I don’t know about you, but I am in disbelief the New Year will be here in just a few short weeks. I feel like I say that every year now that I am older, but time sure does seem to be flying by. Today I am sharing how to create some festive confetti party favors for your New Year’s bash!

New Year's Eve Confetti Favors by Laura Silva for We R Memory Keepers

First off, we need to create something to hold our pretty gold and silver confetti in. I love using traditional gold and silver for my New Year’s crafts. The gorgeous gold striped acetate is perfect for creating little pockets to hold the confetti.

Use the pocket maker punch board to create the little pockets. You can cut your acetate down to 6 inches by 6 inches and then get four pockets out of each sheet. Use the punch board to cut the corners and score the pocket. Assemble using adhesive.

I think New Year’s decorations and crafts always look cuter when you add the year. So, to do this, I used the mini alphabet punch board to create the “19” for 2019. I attached the numbers to the outside of the pocket using foam adhesive squares.

And to make these little confetti shaker pockets even more festive, I used my Happy Jig to create the word “yay!” for each one. I did half out of silver wire and half out of gold wire. I attached the words to the front of the pockets using a little adhesive. You can find the pattern for this design here on Instagram.

I filled each pocket with some gold and silver confetti that will be perfect to hand out at our New Year’s Eve festivities!

These pockets would also be perfect for filling with a little candy treat or noise maker, too!

New Years Eve Party Decor

Hello We R fans! Soraya here today to share a decor inspiration for the New Year Eve party! Let’s make big tassels and pop it up with hot pink letters!

New Year's Eve Party Decor by Soraya Maes for We R Memory Keepers

The Tassel Loom is the perfect tool to create tassels (small, medium or large size) in a very easy way! I made several of them using pink and black/silver yarn. The color combo is girly and festive in a same time!

For the banner, I used the Alphabet Punch Board and a hot pink cardstock. I followed the instructions in the guide book to create the “Happy New Year” banner. And for the small papers (3×5 inches) I used my Trim & Score Board to easily cut them all.

2018 Photo Garland

Hello, We R friends! Enza here, and today I’m sharing a fun garland created with the Frame Punch Board.

2018 Photo Garland featuring the Frame Punch Board by Enza Gudor for We R Memory Keepers

Every year towards the end of December, I like to put together a year-in-review type of project that is a collection of our best moments. It can be a mini album, a grid layout, or a home décor piece that displays one photo per month, and gives a general idea of what our year looked like.

For today’s project, I decided to go with a garland. What I like about this type of project is the flexibility of moving things around, add fun embellishments, and have the opportunity to enjoy the photos at any time.

I opted to create a variety of frames in different sizes. The Frame Punch Board is super easy to use; by simply adjusting the alignment bars, you can vary the thickness of the borders.

2018 Photo Garland featuring the Frame Punch Board by Enza Gudor for We R Memory Keepers2018 Photo Garland featuring the Frame Punch Board by Enza Gudor for We R Memory Keepers

I picked the Hooray! collection by Crate Paper for the frames, and a combination of embellishments from several Maggie Holmes collections to decorate them. Some of the frames measure 3.5×4”, others 3×5”. I used foam tape to adhere my elements down, just to give them some dimension. I then traced and fussy cut the numbers for the year to thread through the first row. The Mini Alphabet Punch Board would work as well for this. I only have the regular size one, so the numbers were too big compared to the frames.

I used white and gold twine to thread all my elements together.

I love how this garland turned out. It is the perfect way to remember the past year. It would also be a great gift idea for grandparents! I know my parents would love to have photos of the kids on their wall or mantel.

New Year’s Eve Party Favor with the Emoji Punch Board

Hello We R fans! Kimberly here today with a sweet (literally) party favor for your upcoming New Year’s Eve celebrations. It’s a busy time of year during the holidays, but when we host a gathering, we still want to have those handmade, extra-special touches. This project is going to check all those boxes for you! Easy, thoughtful, and fun! The We R Memory Keepers Emoji Punch Board is going to bring out the smiles in everyone!

The time-honored tradition of kissing your love at midnight can stay alive and well (and cootie free) with these adorable kisses, with a kissy face.

New Years Eve Party Favors with the Emoji Punch Board by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

Using the Emoji Punch Board and the pre-cut paper pad, I made these kissy faces quickly! The faces are almost the exact same size as the candy, so they fit perfectly on the bottom with a small amount of adhesive.

New Years Eve Party Favors with the Emoji Punch Board by Kimberly Crawford for We R Memory Keepers

Beginning with the heart eyes, I followed the instructions on the punch board. To create the heart eyes, I placed my paper on the side labeled “eyes” on the punch board. I flipped my paper over and punched the second eye. I followed that with the mouth, and then the final punch of the circle shape. These are so cute, I may need to make more for Valentine’s Day!

To help explain to the guests what the treat is, I created a card of sorts. Using the Word Punch Board, I created paper strips saying “kiss me at midnight.” Behind the letters, I layered glitter cardstock to bring some shine to the project. I also added a couple of glitter kissy faces to the card as well. Fast and fun and sure to be memorable as well!

DIY Christmas Hoops

Hello everyone! It’s Eva on the blog today sharing 3 different Christmas hoops made with a few We R Tools!

DIY Christmas Hoops by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

Before scrapbook, I used to do a lot of embroidery and have some supplies in boxes: threads, needles and of course hoops. This year I decided to use some of those hoops to create some Christmas decorations. I love to reuse things and create something beautiful with things I already have!

I created three hoops using different tools, the first one is a mini pom pom hoop. Choose some colored yarns and create small pom poms, We R has a Jumbo Pom Pom Maker and also a set of three pom poms , the smallest one is really cute and I haven’t seen that size a lot! Is perfect for embellishing mini books and small decor projects.

We R Memory Keepers Pom Pom Maker

Use your Precision Scissors to cut the yarn and trim a bit your pom pom.

We R Memory Keepers Pom Pom Maker and Precision Scissors

To glue your pom poms to the hoop use the USB Hot Glue Gun, I love that I don’t need to have and outlet nearby! I simply use my phone’s power bank!

We R Memory Keepers USB Mini Glue Gun

Finally, use the Bow Loom to create the perfect bow and decorate the top of your pom pom hoop.

We R Memory Keepers Bow LoomDIY Christmas Hoops by Eva Pizarro for We R Memory Keepers

For the second pom pom hoop I used my Tag Clear Punch and made 9 banners in different colors. I bend them creating a banner and then put some letters on top.

We R Memory Keepers Clear Cut Tag Punch

With the Word Punch Board you can customize your hoops and soon you will have the chance to create numbers and symbols, how cool is that?

We R Memory Keepers Word Punch Board

Finally I embellished my hoop with some die cuts from Pebbles’ Christmas line Cozy & Bright.

The last hoop is my favorite! I used the Stitch Happy Pen to write a word on felt. I used my Stitch Happy white thread and it was so easy and fast! I really like how it turned out.

To give my hoop a nice and polished look; I cut the felt, glued it to the back of the hoop and also put a felt circle in the back to protect my work.

These Christmas hoops are perfect for my tree but you can also use them to decorate a wall or to give them to a friend! Which one is your favorite?

Christmas Countdown Photo Light Strand

Hello and welcome back to the blog today! Chantalle with you, to share a sweet and simple, festive idea. I’ve used a PhotoLights Photo Frame Strand, my computer and some PhotoLights Printable Backlit Film Paper to create a light-up countdown calendar, which will make the long wait for the jolly man in red, just a bit more fun!

Print off numbers or phrases to switch out daily in the lead up to Christmas!

Christmas Countdown Light Strand by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

I’ve combined my numbers with the word ‘sleeps’ to let my kiddos know how many more agonizing sleeps there are to go!

Christmas Countdown Light Strand by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

I started by heading off to a free font website like DaFont or Squirrel Fonts and checking out their festive options. There is a huge variety of scripts, ornamental and decorative typefaces to choose from!

I then went about measuring the little lightboxes in the Photo Strand with my Supreme Ruler and then set some text inside coloured boxes to fit. (I have used Illustrator but you could also use any word processing programme.) I printed these boxes off onto some PhotoLights Printable Backlit Film Paper, making sure I printed on the more matte side. Note: If you print on the shinier side, the ink does not adhere to the paper. Fear not though, I made the mistake and the ink wiped off with a baby wipe.

Christmas Countdown Light Strand by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

I used my Supreme Ruler again to trim up all the little films and then placed the ones I was going to be using straight away, on to the photo strand.

Christmas Countdown Light Strand by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

On either end of the strand, I thought it would be cute to pop a little festive icon, like this mistletoe.

Christmas Countdown Light Strand by Chantalle McDaniel for We R Memory Keepers

The spare numbers are stored in a little acrylic box. I think this photo strand would make for a great gift. Giving the numbers all prepared in this way is super easy for the recipient to change up the message. Print off multiple copies of the alphabet and you’ve got a great teacher’s gift! The Photo Strand is perfect for any number of occasions!

DIY Holiday Ornaments

Hello, all!  It’s Rebecca here today, and I’m wishing you a Happy December!  I’m excited to bring you some ornaments that I made with the handy-as-ever Tassel Loom and Happy Jig.  They are easy and fun and will surely help you deck your tree with handmade goodness!

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

We’ll start with the easiest of all, a Christmas tree made using the Happy Jig.  I found the directions right in the book that came with the tool, on page 18.  You can go ahead and use Happy Jig wire…or you might want to try using a pipe cleaner!  That’s what I used, a chenille one in gold.  The kind that I found (at Michael’s) were 12 inches, which was perfect because the trees require 11 inches if you make them without the add-on for the clip, which I did.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

The wired pipe cleaner is a bit thinner than standard Happy Jig wire, but these were still sturdy enough to keep their shape.  I tried with another brand of cleaners, but those were too flimsy.  Aside from looking shiny and pretty, another positive aspect of using the gold pipe cleaners was that they were really easy to wind around the small pegs.

We R Memory Keepers Happy Jig

I used a medium peg at the top instead of the small one so I could form a larger loop at the top, and I used the 1” of excess wire to wind around the loop for closure.  Those were 2 small changes I made to the original instructions.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

They’re so pretty hanging on the tree—or on a package, since I always like to include an ornament on Christmas presents!  You can leave them be or you can take it a step further and add some extra bling!  I took some gold metallic thread and wound it around the tree.  The grooves made by the chenille keep the thread from slipping and hold it in its place on the sides of the tree.  Every other loop or so, I added a sequin.  The sequins slide along their line, but they don’t go past the edge of the tree.  I used some vintage gold stars and white faceted round sequins, but you might want to add some more color.  I tied the thread off at the bottom.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

These are so delicate and festive!  The best part is how simply they came together, and how inexpensive.  I can definitely see making several of these for family and friends this year.  It’s also a craft that I know my daughter would LOVE to help with!

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Moving on to the next ornaments, are you ready to make some tassels?  By now you might realize I love to make tassels and add them to nearly everything, so why not make tree ornaments with them, too?  I turned mine into Santa Claus’s and Christmas trees.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

You’ll need the Tassel Loom, thread, glue of your choice, and ¼” white pom poms if you’d like to make these, too.  My thread colors are red, white, black, and 2 shades of green—one dark, one light.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers Tassel Loom

I’ll show you how to create the Santas, and by following those directions, you’ll know how to do the trees—it’s not hard, I promise!  Begin by making the tassels.  Follow the directions for the Tassel Loom as you normally would for a 2” Floss or other Non-Flexible Material.   Trim the ends to even up the bottoms.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

For the Santas, I made 1 black (for his boots), 1 white (for his beard), 1 larger, thicker red (for his suit), and 1 skinnier, shorter red (for his hat).  For the smaller red tassel, you’ll still make a 2” tassel, but will trim off about ½”.  For the trees, I made 2 thick dark green tassels and 1 thick light green tassel.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Take a section of about 1/3 of the larger red tassel (at the back) and add some glue.  I used Fabri-Tac, but hot glue will work, as well.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory KeepersDIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Place the back of the black tassel against the glue, then pull the remaining 2/3 of the red tassel over the top of the black one.  Smooth it out.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Repeat the steps to add the white tassel to the duo, and the last red tassel, as well.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

The final step is glue on the white pom pom at the top.

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

Obviously, the Santas are inferred, but my kids love them!   You’ll do the same steps for the trees, but with only 3 tiers instead of 4.  Also, there’s no pom pom, but I added some sequin stars to the tie-on loop.  You can choose 3 different shades of green, or just one…have fun with it and make it your own!

DIY Holiday Ornaments by Rebecca Luminarias for We R Memory Keepers

With that, I’ll leave you to go and make some ornaments yourself.  Don’t forget to pick up a Happy Jig and a Tassel Loom from the We R Memory Keepers store if you don’t already have them—they’re tools you’ll use again and again!

Photo Frame Christmas Ornaments

Hello We R Memory Keepers friends and fans, Becki here to share a fun Christmas ornament idea with you using two of my favorite tools that work perfectly together–the Frame Punch Board and the Square Punch Board!

Photo Frame Ornaments by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

Ornaments with photos are my favorite ornaments. This year, I decided to make ornaments for my brother and his wife. Earlier this Fall I took photos of my nieces and nephews for their family Christmas card. I LOVE how the photos turned out and I knew they would make the perfect ornaments. I started by printing 3×3 photos of each of the kids. ( You can also trim down a 4×6 photo to 3×3.)

Photo Frame Ornaments by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

After the photos were printed, it was time to put my square punch board and the frame punch board to work. I used the Square Punch Board to punch perfect 3” squares. This tool makes squares and rectangles perfectly every time. When the 3” squares were punched, I simply made them into frames with the Frame Punch Board.

Photo Frame Ornaments by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

Using dimensional adhesive I adhered the frames on top of the photos. I wanted to keep the photos the main focus of these ornaments so I kept embellishments to a minimum. All of the embellishments and patterned papers I used are from the Fa La La collection from Crate Paper. I love the traditional feel of this collection mixed with a few modern colors of pink and teal. This collection complimented my photos perfectly!

Photo Frame Ornaments by Becki Adams for We R Memory Keepers

These ornaments make the perfect gift idea! I know my brother and his family will love them for years to come. These photo ornaments would be a perfect gift idea for grandparents too! I know my parents would love to have photos of all the grand kids on their Christmas tree. They’re so easy to create they’re perfect for last minute gifts as well. I hope these Christmas ornaments have inspired you to create some of your own with the square punch board and the frame punch board. Merry Christmas!!
