A win for Turkey, at least in the short term, and for Russia. The likelihood of a Turkish offensive east of the Euphrates is now stronger than ever. (The US never had a coherent strategy for northeastern Syria. Turkey did.) And the YPG has been hung out to dry.

White House put out vague statement says US has "defeated the territorial caliphate" and has "started returning United States troops home". Doesn't if it's a complete withdrawal or if it's happening immediately.

Video of the question and answer is here. Netanyahu said the flights were in self defence and there was no comparison between them and Hizbollah's tunnels. "It's like saying the police acted against the bank robbers, so they use violence too."

Israeli govt put out a transcript of Netanyahu's press conference earlier. They included a summary of all the reporters' questions... except my question about whether Israel was violating Lebanese sovereignty + UNSCR 1701 by flying warplanes into Lebanese airspace.

This is how Trump's special envoy to the anti-ISIS coalition Brett McGurk answered just last week when asked how long US troops would be in Syria - "We have obviously learned a lot of lessons in the past...we can’t just pick up and leave."

The US military literally put out a statement today saying it was continuing to fight ISIS. And yet Trump tells us that ISIS is defeated.

Hard to overstate how stupid Trump is making a lot of US officials look. They have been going around saying US policy is to stay in Syria to counter Iran. And now this.
