Trump’s actions once again prove that he admires Nixon’s infamous answer: “Well, when the president does it, that means that it is not illegal."

It’s amazing how the NYT couldn’t find a single Black advocate, politician or scholar to comment on Buttigieg plan to address racial injustice. They did, however, interview Pelosi’s daughter.

Biden now joins Booker, O’Rourke, Buttitieg and Gabbard in committing to cutting incarceration by 50%. All of these commitments came in response to activists in the states asking candidates to begin dismantling mass incarceration.

I hope this thread will be read by members of Congress and state legislatures considering similar measures that condemn the BDS movement and wrongfully equate it with anti-Semitism.

Excellent piece on Trump’s “Unalienable Rights” Commission and its members most of whom are nothing but anti-human rights crusaders. by

"In resolving this appeal, we remind the litigants and the public that if the First Amendment means anything, it means that the best response to disfavored speech on matters of public concern is more speech, not less."

"Accordingly, while the President’s tweets can accurately be described as government speech, the retweets, replies, and likes of other users in response to his tweets are not government speech under any formulation."

This is really big deal! Court of Appeals (2nd Circuit): "We also conclude that once the President has chosen a platform and opened up its interactive space to millions of users and participants, he may not selectively exclude those whose views he disagrees with."

The new Commission on Unalienable Rights is not needed. Instead, senior US leaders need to advocate for standards that already are in place.

This is yet another attempt by the Trump admin to roll back decades of progress in achieving full rights for marginalized and historically discriminated communities. END

Taxpayer resources would be better spent assessing the administration’s failure to meet basic human rights obligations, rather than redefining those rights. 2/

Any attempts to veil this initiative as a measure to protect America’s founding principles are absurd. The Trump administration couldn’t play by the rules, so now it has decided to try to change the rules themselves. 1/

Biden can’t have it both ways. He had aggressively pushed for the 1994 Crime Bill. Does he think voters don’t know or don’t care? Read thread/watch videos of his enthusiastic speeches in support of more prisons and cops as part of disastrous and racist “tough on crime policies”
