3/3 Being present in physical locations where bitcoins are sold, such as @BitcoinemBassy, gives direct insight into the state of things. Just as demand went down, it can go back up. So we need longer-term solutions such as LN and elastic block caps, sooner rather than later.

2/3 Case in point: SegWit adoption is still modest and blocks are still roughly 1MB. And BCH still only has about a tenth of the usage of Bitcoin. Most demand for CC is, unfortunately, still speculative, and speculation comes in hype waves that we are all familiar with.

1/3 The main reason for the drop in Bitcoin tx fees is not SegWit adoption, and it's not people moving to BCH (lol). It's simply that the craze for buying cryptocurrencies in general has calmed down.

Running a Lightning node and seeing the payments routed through it gives a visceral feeling of taking part in building something greater than myself. (Still on Testnet though. Waiting for a good mainnet Lightning GUI client)

Bitcoin is outdated, we should use Ethereum. And why would you use Ethereum anyway when you have innovative coins like Dash, and if you're stuck in the past still using Dash you should switch to Iota. Dinosaurs who still think Iota is the future must read up on Raiblocks NOW.

LN integration, once finalized and properly tested, should also follow sooner rather than later.

PSA to Bitcoin wallet developers and service providers: Tx fees are at an all-time high, and now is your time to shine. Offering SegWit support (preferably bech32 addresses) will already go a long way towards furthering a solution and reducing congestion.

Since "P2WPKH-P2SH address" is a mouthful, I usually refer to them as "almost SegWit" addresses.
