#HMSBelfast was the flagship of Bombardment Force E, supporting troops landing at Gold and Juno beaches on#DDay. The ship’s log records she opened fire at 0527 on 6 June. She spent 33 days supporting the Normandy landings and fired over 5,000 shells.#DDay75pic.twitter.com/saJ4xwvqst

Patrick Reardon served on HMS Sheffield and landed on Omaha beach on D-Day. He was part of a Forward Observation Bombardment team sending vital information from on shore back to the ships bombarding the coast.

Charles Kavanagh, an Able Seamen, helped land tanks on Sword beach on D-Day and later supported with landing supplies for the US Army on Omaha beach.

John Nicholls was on HMS Argonaut on D-Day. His ship fired on German gun batteries and John helped drive landing craft from ship to shore.

'I was a very junior rating, I was a boy' Denis Haley was a 17 year old signalman aboard HMS Southward Ho. His ship towed parts of a temporary portable harbour from Portsmouth to Arromanches on 7 June 1944.
