    A key point here -- a really important point -- is that these companies are supposed to be competing with each other. Instead, they're all behaving like super chummy friends -- and the enemy is you.

    Me: Okay, D3's not *that* hard Also me: Spends three days trying to get something to zoom

    The bos' *finally* weighs in, after the debate "should we use D3?" is now a couple years old. But still, I am going to disagree: D3 is still hard. Choosing which modules to use out of a list of 31 is not an "easy" ecosystem, even done perfectly.

    “Feel the market, don’t just go by meaningless numbers” is the kind of advice economists absolutely love.

    I hope the people over at the Fed will read today’s Wall Street Journal Editorial before they make yet another mistake. Also, don’t let the market become any more illiquid than it already is. Stop with the 50 B’s. Feel the market, don’t just go by meaningless numbers. Good luck!

    If I had this mindset three years ago, there would be no tigris (80k downloads from the rstudio mirror) or tidycensus (21k downloads), but maybe an extra couple publications with 15 combined citations

    I wonder how many 1000s of hours of some of the brightest minds in science are being wasted creating cool packages that only 10 people will ever use to shave 5 minutes off the time taken to solve a problem and which will stop working with dependency issues 2 years later.
