Capcom has just confirmed the release date for the 6 NES Mega Man games making their way to mobile. January 5th is when the games will release in the US. Japan's launch date is January 6th, so expect this one to roll out worldwide at about the same time, possibly later on Thursday than earlier. Mobile game release times are more of a polite suggestion than anything concrete, but the point is that the first Thursday of 2017 is when you'll be getting your Mega Man on mobile on. ..
I think it's pretty fair to say we've been keeping a close eye on Card Thief here at TouchArcade, and I'm glad to hear that the beta for the game should be inching closer. As the developers have said in our Upcoming Games forum thread, a secret Guild Symbol has appeared, and that means we're getting a Beta announcement next week. Hopefully that means the actual beta is very near. Why should you be excited? Card Thief is the follow-up to last year's great Card Crawl [$2.99], and it looks to be just as clever as the latter...

Our forum community is a fantastic place for developers to find early players for their games that can provide invaluable real-world feedback in order to get a game in shape before its official launch. I can't even count how many games were shaped for the better based on feedback from real players. It's probably in the thousands! Anyway, one of our favorite developers Godzilab, who you probably know from the incredible iBlast Moki series or the adorable city builder Happy Street, have just soft-launched their new game in Australia and they're looking for some feedback on it. The game is called Crush Them All and it's an idle RPG that has you tapping to defeat giant monsters, collecting and upgrading an army of characters, and exploring over 1000 stages...
Day Z was a landmark PC game that managed to create a post-apocalyptic playground where zombies were dangerous but the other people playing the game with you were infinitely more so. Despite its many and severe bugs, Day Z became incredibly popular and still echoes in many recent survival games. Now, you can have a similar experience on your mobile device. A couple of years ago, a "demake" of Day Z called MiniDAYZ came out and was very successful. The game, eventually bought by Bohemia Interactive, was a 2D top-down game with fun pixel art that was still hard as nails...
Lucky Kat Studios has had a pretty solid 2016, with the fun Sky Chasers [Free] and Combo Critters [Free] that released this year. Now, the studio with its great pixel art is ready to close out the year by teaming up with Grumpy Cat for a game: Grumpy Cat's Worst Game Ever. Releasing on Thursday, December 22nd, this minigame collection will have you trying to play a bunch of minigames, with the promise of getting to watch Grumpy Cat fail at them and be miserable. Because it's Grumpy Cat. The irony in the name belies that there's some great production values in play here, which you would expect from Lucky Kat based on their previous titles...
Raise your hands if you wanted another Angry Birds game. Well, you're getting one anyway. Angry Birds Blast, a puzzle game starring all those ill-tempered birds, is going to blast onto the App Store December 22nd, so get ready to have a blast. The game is a balloon popping puzzler that has you freeing the birds trapped in those colorful balloons. There are all kinds of puzzles to solve, the usual 3-star level rating to work for, boosters to use to take out more balloons at the same time, as well as daily challenges and leaderboards...
For fans of Telltale's The Walking Dead [Free], and wait is finally over since Season 3 of the lauded series, officially called The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier, has just launched on PC and is coming to iOS and Android this week. Telltale is doing something it's never done with one of its series in the past, and that's release the first two episodes at the same time. The new season follows the adventures and misadventures of Javier, a young man determined to protect his family, and the famous Clementine from Season 1, a young girl who's had her share of heartbreaking losses during her life. I can tell that pretty much any fan of Season 1 and 2 is very excited to have Clementine back because of how memorable a character she was...
On Friday, our own Shaun Musgrave picked up on a tweet from Capcom Japan announcing that the six 8-bit Mega Man games were getting special re-releases for mobile. Details were pretty light, and the big question was whether or not these mobile ports would be releasing outside of Japan or not. Well, this morning Capcom's US operations have confirmed that these games will indeed be releasing outside of Japan in early January. Details are still pretty light but we also now know that each game will be released separately for $1.99 apiece and that they've been "optimized for the mobile devices with adjustments to game speed."..
Nitrome's had themselves quite the year, with another slew of top-notch games with top-notch pixel art to their name in 2016, including the hit game Leap Day [Free]. But they are not quite done with 2016 yet, as they have one final release in store: Silly Sausage: Doggy Dessert is set to hit on December 22nd. The sequel to Silly Sausage in Meat Land [Free], where you played as a giant, stretchy, sausage dog stretching throughout various mazes. This time, you'll be traveling through a dreamland made of cake, taking on all sorts of new trials, such as difficult challenge rooms. Oh, and there's a boss fight where you take on the figures on a wedding cake? What?! ..
Orangepixel is ready to reveal its newest game, Ashworld. Carrying the torch of Orangepixel games steadily growing in scope, this is primed to be an open-world action game. Taking place in a post-apocalyptic desert landscape inspired by Mad Max, you play as the hero Ash. You'll have to survive and help the humans keep civilization going, while fending off the chaotic Ragers, and the nocturnal, undead, Skellies...
The original ChocoRun came to the App Store back in 2011 and was well-received overall. Now the developers are getting ready to unleash ChocoRun 2 upon the mobile world, and judging from the trailer, it's going to be pretty cool. ChocoRun 2 consists of short, quick levels that will have you dying repeatedly. In other words, it will be the kind of game where try, die, repeat. If you like games like Geometry Dash [$1.99], then ChocoRun 2 is probably going to be right up your alley...
Have you ever lost a phone or came close to losing one? Do you remember the horror of knowing that someone can access everything on that phone (provided they can break into it)? The upcoming A Normal Lost Phone puts you in the shoes of someone who finds a lost phone and has to figure out what has happened to its previous owner. I'm pretty sure the story won't be about how the previous owner got drunk and lost the phone somewhere along the way home...
The question that's circling effectively every place on the internet that discusses video games that has any kind of mobile gaming inkling to it right now is dominated by one thing: When exactly is Super Mario Run going to finally hit the App Store? Something is definitely happening, as per AppShopper version history, a 1.0 version of the game was pushed to the App Store earlier today, with an initial download that weighs in at just under 200MB. (You may have gotten a push alert from the TouchArcade app for this, sorry!) With it officially being Thursday the 15th in most areas of the world right now, it feels like the game could hit at any time. Japan Times is claiming a 5:00 PM release time in Japan, which would put it at Midnight Pacific but aside from this cryptic Nintendo tweet I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere else, so I'm taking it with a pretty massive grain of salt...
I was excited to hear about Dungeon Rushers coming to mobile, with publishing by Mi-Clos. Sure, I could play it on PC, but I would rather play it on my iPad. Wouldn't you? Well, if you can't wait till February, then good news: developer Goblinz Studio is opening up beta testing slots for iOS and Android users. Hidden Folks is a very charming upcoming game that we've been keeping an eye on here at TouchArcade towers. Carter got a chance to see it up close and came away quite impressed, so that's a good sign. Hidden Folks is a Where's Waldo type of game, but the fun part is you have to mess around with the environment in order to find the different characters. As you can see from the trailer below, Hidden Folks looks like it will be great fun to play, especially on a larger screen (it is coming to the Apple TV, too)...
Good news if you signed up for the beta for Nexon M's impressive-looking Durango: the beta is officially open for business, with download links going out now. Running from now until January 3rd, 2017, those who signed up can dig into this open-world MMORPG where you'll have to deal with survival and rebuilding society in a land where there's dinosaurs all about. Dinosaurs that you can ride! I want to ride a freaking dinosaur!..
A few weeks back, we wrote that Mi-Clos' Antioch: Scarlet Bay was scheduled to release March 2017. Unfortunately, the game has been pushed back, but the good news is that it's only for a few weeks since the game will release on April 6th, and I personally can't wait. If you don't know what Antioch is all about, this murder-mystery interactive story will have you playing with either a friend or a stranger as you both cooperate, or even clash, on your way to solving the mystery. There are dialogue choices to make, clues to investigate, and suspects to interview (I hope we can play bad cop/good cop) as you both try to uncover the secrets hiding in the city of Antioch...
