As I delved once more into A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, a single line seemed to whisper directly to my soul:  “I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.” 

These words stirred something profound within me, a reminder of the light and warmth that the Christmas season kindles: a light I wish to carry with me far beyond December. For me, the period from late November to Epiphany is a time unlike any other: a sacred space of joy, creativity, and endless inspiration. It is during these fleeting weeks that my heart is most alive, my spirit most attuned to the magic that surrounds us. 

Epiphany, the day when Christmas celebrations traditionally conclude in Italy, feels less like an ending and more like a threshold. It is the perfect moment to reflect on the beauty of the season and to make a vow to carry its essence forward. From this reflection, The 12 Months of Christmas was born. 

(Unlike usual, all 12 patterns have already been drawn, so there will be no delays, and you’ll be able to download them right on time!)

This project is more than a collection of PDF cross-stitch patterns; it is an invitation to embrace the spirit of Christmas as a guiding light throughout the entire year. Each month, if you choose to join, you will receive a unique and original Christmas design: some large, some small, some unveiled in stages. Each pattern is a step on a spiritual journey, a gentle reminder to nurture the joy, generosity, and wonder that make Christmas so extraordinary. 

As the months unfold, you will weave a tapestry of hope and celebration, preparing your heart and home for the next December. You'll receive the list of links to download, month after month, your monthly ornament. By December, you will be surrounded by the fruits of your creativity—completed projects that radiate the love and magic of the season.

EARLY STITCHERS CLUB 2024: ODE TO THE CHRISTMAS PUDDING

This 5th pattern is an ode to the Christmas Pudding! I adore Victorian atmospheres and Dickeninas Christmas (did I invent a new word? LOL) and this traditional cake is so perfect! The funny thing is that I do NOT like it at all... but it’s so beautiful and it gives to the table such an immediate Christmas feeling that I cannot keep myself from designing it.

I love the tale of red Riding Hood... an evening I was talking with Elisabetta B. and I had a glimpse of this pattern... I immediately took paper and pencil and sketch it... AN ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS: YULE GOAT

"Julbocken" The Yule goat's origins go back to ancient Pagan festivals. While a popular theory is that the celebration of the goat is connected to worship of the Norse god Thor, who rode the sky in a chariot drawn by two goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, it goes back to common Indo-European beliefs. The last sheaf of grain bundled in the harvest was credited with magical properties as the spirit of the harvest and saved for the Yule celebrations, called among other things Yule goat (Julbocken).

BOREALIS FOX

BOREALIS FOX: This pattern's origins can be found in my last January trip to Lapland. When I visited Lapland I learnt a lot of legends about Aurora Borealis. One of them talks about Revontulet – the Finnish word for the Northern Lights – translates as “fox fires”. The firefox – tulikettu – is a mythical and elusive creature. As it runs along the fells, the fox’s flaming tail whips crystals of snow into the sky and the fur scratches the trees, setting the skies on fire. 

It has been very difficult to design the Aurora... the colours have been a nightmare LOL.. I lit an aurora candles bought in Rovaniemi... can you spot the blue(green flame? It's magical!!!! And this pattern has been patiently stitched by Elisabetta B. on Tempest 30 ct linen.

ARCTIC CIRCLE ORNAMENTS

Hello my dear Wicked Hares. I'm sooo late with these patterns, but, less than one, they are winter/historical patterns.... Let's start to introduce the most 'Christmas one'. 

It's my ARCTIC ORNAMENTS. It has been inspired by my trip to Santa's Village, in Rovaniemi, Finland, during last January. The Village is on the Arctic Circle. It was so strange to be there... Fantastic!!! And the village is full of elves and reindeers ❤ Cuteness at its best. 

The pattern can be stitched whole or in 3 ornaments. On Old Salem Linen 30 ct. Many thanks to my model stitcher Elisabetta B. and to my finisher Paola E.

Hello, it's time to gather my friends! This is my Christmas 2020 Class. Class will be on Saturday December 19th at noon (east cost - Boston time). You'll receive the kit by the first week of December. The kit includes everything but not the threads (DMC and Kreinik Gold). Class costs 55 $ and includes the kit and 40 minutes class on zoom on Saturday 19th (December). I'll be available for extra time in other days, depending on your needs. I can't believe I gave my Model stitcher a pattern with a mistake... The correct name of Alice is NUTTER, and it is correct on the pattern you buy... but I gave her a pattern with the mispelled name.... shame on me!

The witches of Pendle are quite famous in England and I've been very happy to visit Pendle Hill in Lanchashire last September. Alice Nutter is based on my own picture of the statue that has been dedicated to her some years ago.
