Clearly you haven’t been following news about voting disputes in India and mistrust of electronic voting systems. South Africans, ever so quick to throw our country under the bus without even bothering to be informed. Sigh.

They use a paper-backed electronic ballot in India, so they can audit the results.

When did those innovations come in and why did they come in? It was the courts (through court challenges) that introduced them. Notwithstanding this, the point is the system is not entirely still beyond reproach. Some people question it. Ours also has glitches but works.

Indian election system is absolutely fine and working independently under EC, almost votes of 1 million voting machines were matched with paper trials and not a single mismatch found. Nowadays, blaming voting machine is a fashion in India when results are not in favour
