LABOUR & ANTISEMITISM PANEL

 

Thursday 21 February
 

Liberal Judaism is proud to announce the launch of a new series of dialogue events entitled ‘Liberal Judaism’s Hot Potatoes’.

The aim of the series is to cover some of the most hotly debated issues within the Jewish community, while aiming to create a safe space where all views are heard and there is more debate than judgement.

The first event will be a panel discussion which will look at the current problems of antisemitism within the Labour Party. 

The panel chaired by BBC reporter Callum May, will include human rights barrister Adam Wagner, former Labour councillor Adam Langleben, Young Labour chair Miriam Mirwitch, former chair of the Jewish Labour Movement Ella Rose and journalist Michael Segalov.

JOIN THE #SWABSQUAD

The Sue Harris Trust, together with Anthony Nolan, have organised Jewish Swab Week from 10th-15th February.

Jewish Swab Week is a great opportunity to add yourself to the register – you just need to be aged 16-30, and in good health. It takes literally a few minutes to be swabbed, and if you are a match, you would be giving someone is potentially decades of life. How many chances do you get to do that?

EXPERIENCE AND DISCUSS THE NEW SHABBAT MORNING SERVICE

 

Saturday 16 February

 
All members of Liberal synagogues are invited to attend the Shabbat morning service at Northwood & Pinner Liberal Synagogue to experience the use of the new liturgy.

After the service Rabbi Lea Mühlstein will explain the new liturgy and provide for an opportunity to ask questions and give feedback.

The service will also be streamed on the NPLS website.
 
Time: Service - 11am, Discussion - 12-2pm

GUEST SPEAKER SHABBAT

 

Friday 8 March

 
The Liberal Jewish Synagogue's Young Adults / Professionals Group invites you to join them for a guitar-led erev Shabbat service, chavurah supper and discussion with Merphie Bubis, Breaking the Silence Disapora Education and Outreach Coordinator.

Time: 6:45pm Service | 7:30pm supper and conversation
Please bring a vegetarian or sweet dish or a bottle of wine to share

HEBREW CRASH COURSE

 

8-10 March

 
Join the 13th Hebrew Crash Course weekend to learn the basics or improve your fluency and understanding in a stimulating community atmosphere.

DEEP CALLS TO DEEP COURSE

 

Tuesdays, March - May

 
The LJS and London Society of Jews and Christians invite you to a course inspired by Deep Calls to Deep, a new volume of essays about inter-religious learning and dialogue.

The course sees a rabbi in partnership with their Christian counterpart, touching on a particular topic including 'How should Christians and Jews live in a modern Western democracy?', 'Religious absolutism', 'How do we cope with our past' and 'Christian particularity - Incarnation and trinity and Jewish responses'.
