24 Hours in the Biblical Grand Canyon, a Camera Just Caught Something Amazing

A stunning shot of the view from Mitzpeh (observation point) Ramon overlooking the 40 kilometer long, 500 meter deep makhtesh (geologically formed crater) for a period of several hours, condensed into 1 minute and 13 seconds. This breathtaking crater, formed by a rift in the middle of a hill and deepened by various rivers changing courses and running through the rift, is a natural wonder of Israel’s Negev desert.
The song is by Israeli singer and musician, Idan Reichel, “From the Depths”, is part of a multicultural musical project named “The Idan Reichel Project”, which blends electronics and traditional Hebrew texts with Ethiopian, Arab, and Yemenite music and vocalists.

Reichel’s enchanting song together with the breathtaking view of the makhtesh epitomizes much of what the People and the Land of Israel are all about.
