Kaspersky Internet Security 2014

An activation code is a unique set of characters that comes in 4 blocks separated by a hyphen(-). Each block comprises of 5 characters which can be a combination of letters and numbers, which comes to a total of 20 characters (XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX).

If you have installed Kaspersky Internet Security 2014, but you do not have an activation code to activate the application, then you can purchase a commercial license and activate the application.

Activation codes are created  for each Kaspersky Lab product separately.

Application purchased via the eStore

If you have purchased Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 via the eStore, the activation code will be sent to the e-mail you have specified when making the order.

In Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 you can add a new activation code besides an active license.

When a few days remain until your license expires, you can renew your license for Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 and add a new activation code to the application as a reserved activation code.

Once your license expires, a new activation code will be automatically activated with no disruption of your security.

But if the current license has not expired yet and you click the Activate now button, then the remaining license validity period will be lost.

You can activate Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 using the following methods:

1. Activate trial version — The Activation Wizard will download and install a key file which is 30 days valid. Your computer should be connected to the Internet to activate the product. Trial version is fully-functioning; however when a trial period expires the anti-virus databases will not be updated. Read the articles below, to know more about trial version activation:

If the option Activate trial version is not available, it means the trial version was already installed or is installed now.

2. Activate commercial version — a 20-digit activation code should be entered. Your computer should be connected to the Internet to activate the product. Enter an activation code from the keyboard using Latin symbols ONLY (pay attention, the letters "L", "I", "O" and the digit "0" are not used in activation codes).

   Once the product is activated, a license number and not an activation code is displayed in the Licensing window. Remember, that a product can be activated with an activation code, that is why do not lose it and better add it to My Kaspersky .

   The Activation Wizard will download and install a key file automatically. Read the articles below, to know more about commercial version activation:

If you lost, deleted your activation code or it has expired prematurely, then you can restore it.

You can find an activation code in an email message which was sent to you to the email address given in the order. If the message is deleted, then in order to restore activation code, contact the eStore. Give the following information in your request:

• purchase date;
• owner info (first and last name, email address);
• number of the online order (you can find it in a confirmation message received from the eStore after the purchase).

You can find the necessary contact information to restore your activation code in the Customer Care Center .

An unused activation code can be activated at any time, but the license will begin to expire on the day of initial activation. The license validity period is calculated since the first activation (i.e. once an activation code is activated on any of the two computers it was purchased for).

This information does not refer to trial activation codes which go on CDs in magazines. Validity period of trial activation codes is restricted.

Commercial license expiration

When a commercial activation code expires (this type of code is valid for a year or more), Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 will continue working with restrictions (for example, Parental Control and Safe Money will stop functioning) and will not update databases of known threats. I.e. the application will continue to disinfect infected objects / filter spam, but with the databases which were downloaded on the last day of your activation code validity.

Even if you manage to download the databases manually and try to install these to the product, Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 will stop functioning at all.

You cannot prolong the license validity period of a commercial activation code by adding a trial activation code. No trial activation code can be added to the product once a commercial activation code was installed.

Trial license expiration

When a trial activation code expires (a trial activation code is valid for one month), Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 stops functioning (protection will be disabled and the databases will not be updated).

You cannot install two or more trial activation code on your computer concurrently/ in turn; as the validity period of another trial activation code will not either overlap or prolong the license validity period of the first trial code.

What to do after license expiration

To restore the product’s functionality when any activation code has expired you should simply add a new commercial activation code into the product. You do not have to reinstall the application.

In order to know the license expiration date, perform the following actions:

1. Open Kaspersky Internet Security 2014.
2. In the center part of the window you can find information about remaining days, for example, License: 26 days remaining.

In order to view detailed license information, perform the following actions:

1. Open Kaspersky Internet Security 2014.
2. At the bottom of the window click the Licensing link.

3. The Licensing window contains the following information: license expiration date and remaining days. 
4. Number, License type, Activation date and Expiration date can also be found in the License information window. To open the License information window, click the license number in the Licensing window.

The expiration date of your license is also displayed in the tab My Codes of My Kaspersky.

If an active license for Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 has not expired yet, then if you activate a new license, remaining days of your current license will be lost. Thus, you will not be able to use remaining days of your current license on the computer.

When migrating to Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 the remaining license period for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 or Kaspersky PURE 3.0 will not be added to license validity period of Kaspersky Internet Security 2014. At the same time, the license validity period for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 / Kaspersky PURE 3.0 will continue decreasing. You can use the remaining days of the license validity period of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 / Kaspersky PURE 3.0 to protect another computer.

If you do not wish to lose remaining days of your current license, you can add a new license as a reserved license. Once your active license expires, reserved license will be activated automatically.

Before you update or reinstall the OS, make sure that:

• You have the activation code in print on the inner side of the box with the setup CD (if you purchased a box version).
• The activation code is saved on another disc (flash-drive, floppy) which will not be formatted when reinstalling the operating system (if you purchased the product in the Online-Store).
• Product settings have been exported, and the configuration file is saved on another disc (flash-drive, floppy) which will not be formatted when reinstalling the operating system.
• The file with the Anti-Spam databases was saved on another disc which will not be formatted when reinstalling the operating system (if Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 is installed on your PC).

After the OS reinstallation, you are recommended to perform the following steps:

1. Download the distributive from the Kaspersky Lab site. You can find the information how to download a file on the following pages:
   • for users of Windows 8
   • for users of Windows 7
   • for users of Windows Vista
2. Install Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 .
3. Activate the application.
4. After you have installed the product and rebooted the OS, import the product settings from the configuration file you have created earlier.
5. Copy the file with the saved Anti-Spam databases.

If you divided your hard drive into several partitions with different operating systems installed, then you can use one activation code to activate several copies of a Kaspersky Lab product on the operating systems, which are installed on the same computer.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 can be activated by activation codes purchased in the region where the product will be used.

Activation error 4:1 may appear if you try to activate your application with an activation code in one region (country), but the activation code you use is intended for use in another region (country). For example, you bought Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 via E-Store in India, but you try to install and activate the application in the United Kingdom.

In order to eliminate the problem, you need to install and activate your Kaspersky Lab product in the region (country), where you bought the application.

A purchased license can be activated on a stated number of computers. For example, if you have a valid license for Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 for two computers, then the same license cannot be used on three computers or more.
