When installing
Kaspersky Security 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange Servers, Setup wizard allows configuring SQL server connection properties.
You need to have local login credentials on a host with installed
Kaspersky Security 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange Servers and SQL server administrator permissions to be able to create a database on an SQL server. If SQL server is located on the domain controller, you have to be in the group
Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins, or
Schema Admins. In case of a remote connection to SQL server it is necessary to have enabled TCP/IP support in
SQL Server Configuration Manager.
Enter host name (or IP address) and SQL server name in the field
SQL server name. By clicking th button
Browse next to that field you can select an SQL server in the given network segment.
When creating a database on the SQL server, select a user account to create it:
- Active account. Currently active user account will be used then.
- Other account. In this case it is necessary to specify login and password of a different user account. You can select a user account by using the button Browse.

SQL server browser service has to run on the host housing the SQL server. Otherwise you will not be able to see the required SQL server. If
Kaspersky Security 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange Servers is installed on an
Edge transport and the SQL server is located inside the domain, it is impossible to establish connection with that SQL server. In this case it is necessary to use a local SQL server.
Then you will be asked to select a user account used to connect to the SQL server.
- Local System account. In this case local system account will be used to connect to the SQL server. If SQL server is located on a remote server, it will be impossible to establish a connection to it.
- User account. In this case it is necessary to specify login and password of a user account having enough privileges to connect to the SQL server and execute application service.
