Manage your device identity and protected content
Some music or movies that you download or stream on your Android device might be protected by copyright. These sites might ask you to identify your device before you use it to see protected content. If you don’t want these sites to have access to your device identity, you can block this info from being shared.
If you stop sharing your device identity, you might get an error when you try to play certain movies or music.
Stop protected content sites from seeing your device info
- On your Android device, open Chrome.
- Touch the Chrome menu
> Settings > Site Settings > Protected Content.
- Switch protected content to "Blocked."
Reset your device for protected content
You can reset your device's credentials to remove access for all sites with protected content.
- On your Android device, open Chrome.
- Touch the Chrome menu
> Settings > Site Settings > Protected Content.
- On the "Protected Content" screen, touch the Chrome menu > Reset device credentials.
View protected content
To watch protected movies or listen to protected music in Chrome, including content you've downloaded to use offline, switch protected content to “Ask first.” Then, grant access again by replaying your content online.
