According to Oprah, there’s no one more resilient than Tyler Perry. The longtime friends sat down in front of a live audience to unpack the strength—and vulnerability—it took for Perry to come to terms with years of abuse at his father’s hands.

 “I don’t know if you can reach the fullest potential of resilience if you can’t get to the forgiveness,” Perry said during the conversation. “Had I not experienced that, I would not be sitting here talking to you.”
