Fabulous location of the hotel, the Apollonia National Park is nearby.

this hotel is very old and the rooms are out dated in the decor, furnitures and bathroom. the 5 star rating is unjustified, and the $280 per night price is a rip of.

    Great

The hotel is quite good in all respects, but also rather expensive

The facilities close too early. Maybe it was because of shabbath (I came on Friday) but why not keep them open for foreigners?

    The pool

Everything else. It was a disaster. Jacuzzy in bath didn't work. Fridge/mini bar didn't work. Replacement fridge was useless. Arrived at 5pm and pool was closed. Air con in the room was useless. No gym facilities as per the website. Under construction. Drilling works started at 7am outside my room. Couldn't print boarding pass from reception as no connection to printer. Electrics in room were faulty. Had to jam chair against wall to charge my laptop/phone. I don't usually complain but this hotel was an absolute disaster!!!

THe compfort of the room, the view, the swimmingpool area and the breakfast

I thought the staff were a little unfriendly

    Very good

All was fine, the hotel is not brand new, but the room was clean and spacious with a huge balcony. Breakfast very good, especially that you can press yourself a fresh juice from the sweet oranges. Staff friendly and helpful, hotel close to the sea with it's own swimming pool and spa.

The sea gate did not work with the hotel card, so after coming out I could not get back. Fortuntely someone from the hotel guests saw me and let me in, in other case I would have to search the way around.

    Perfect

The staff was friendly and helpful. Great things about the Sharon: the view of the sea from the rooms, the rooms are spacious, and the hotel is right on the beach. Also there are stores just down the street so if you forget/ need anything, it's all right there. Restaurants are right on the beach and down the street too so you don't have to go far for food. Taxis are always on hand, and the #90 bus is across the street and goes directly to Tel Aviv. The breakfast is a free great continental breakfast including lots and lots of foods. A buffet of great fruit, fish, eggs - not a typical American breakfast but much more healthy and just as varied. We were very happy there for our stay of 5 nights. Also, there is interesting artwork throughout the hotel. And best of all, we did not see a single roach, which are very common in Israel, having nothing to do with cleanliness. They just happen to live there too. But not at the Sharon Hotel!

    Great

Very polite staff and excellent position to everything. Transport is in easy reach and one can get anywhere easily. Quiet atmosphere with exceptional views of the ocean and beach. Wonderful walks and within easy reach of beach restaurants.

The steps leading to the beach are difficult, The housekeeping staff did not understand English sufficiently. I thought the Breakfast Buffet was poor. Hot cereal during the cold spell when I was there would have been appreciated. Food was generally too salty. Room service understood what I asked for but I got a different dish delivered.

Really like the location and the wonderful breakfast.

Didn't really like the bellboy who took me to the room in the service elevator and then threw my bags and ran down the hall.

    Nice

The hotel is situated off a corner of the village square in Herzliya Pituach, a prosperous residential quarter on the coast, cut off by a motorway and main road from the town of Herzliya proper. Herzliya Pituach is notable for the number of ambassadorial residences in the four or five streets that run parallel with the seafront: on one walk we noticed the residences of the ambassadors of the USA, Peru, Netherlands, Turkey and Switzerland. The square itself, with free parking for about 100 cars, is surrounded by pizza shops, attractive cafes doing pasta and patisserie, and a couple of meat restaurants serving schnitzel, hamburgers, shwarma, and other meats, one of which was kosher lamahedrin. The climate in this part of Israel can be very unpleasant in high season when the weather isn't just hot but very humid, but we were there at the start of January and it was perfect, with daytime temperatures of 19-22 - not unlike Santa Barbara, with which it bore many resemblances. The Sharon Hotel is a long-established institution, started (we were told) by an Englishman called Shreier (not sure if this spelling is right) who now also owns a string of hotels in Hungary. An older, four-storey range has rooms that either face north over the hotel garden or south over the swimming pool and street. The north facing rooms are the more attractive, and better sheltered from the sun, and larger, perhaps because their balconies have now been incorporated into the rooms, which are huge (50 square metres). The architecture is rather distinguished: a fine example of mid 20th-century modernism, with some remarkable features including a spiral staircase and minstrels gallery (unfortunately now boxed in) in the main lobby, a very elegant staircase by the side of the lounge and bar, and features that evoke a particular vision of high-living as interpreted by the Soviet Comintern at the height of the Cold War.

Apart from Charlie, the staff were not universally friendly. A couple were amusing, most were businesslike and dour, almost all were unsmiling. Some warmed to us eventually, and grudgingly, and some of the younger waiters in the breakfast room were polite, but overwhelmingly we found that the staff did not smile readily or at all, and the predominant mood was somewhere between taciturn and grumpy. A young woman who worked in the bar was rude and appeared to mutter under her breath when we told her perfectly nicely that we didn't want any drinks; a bellboy whose services we didn't use when taking our own few cases to our rental car appeared to spit contemptuously at us after we passed him; and a man on reception failed to help an elderly friend who came to see us and urgently needed to find a toilet. We understand that such behaviour is regarded as normal and unexceptional among Israelis but we were very unimpressed by it, and it did not predispose us to want to visit Israel again. By the same token, we found the other guests unfriendly. A degree of reserve is necessary and desirable when on holiday, but in this case we found it excessive and we felt very isolated when no one responded to our polite smiles and greetings at any time of day. This sense of isolation was exacerbated over Shabbat when the hotel was suddenly packed with large chareidi families with no apparent social skill or wish to engage with anyone other than themselves. Shabbat, consequently, was rather a miserable experience for those of us stuck at the hotel for 25 hours. In addition, morning service was held inconveniently early, and clashed with breakfast; we would have preferred it if another service could have started later, and been more welcoming to women and children, thereby allowing us to enjoy a Shabbat breakfast at leisure rather than in haste. By 9.30, families were already coming into the breakfast room to make kiddush.
