Beacon , N.Y. Lindsay knew something was up when she walked into a dinner party last April and saw the bottles of Macallan 12 on the table.

It’s her favorite Scotch, after all, the drink she’d shared with Richard on their first date, in 2009. But neither Lindsay nor any of the other guests knew just what Richard was planning.

“I didn’t tell a single person,” he says, “so I could chicken out at the last minute.”

Fortunately, the groom, 35, found his courage and fell to one knee in front of everybody to propose to Lindsay, 30. The Upper West Side couple married last month at The Roundhouse at Beacon Falls. Among the guests were friends from dozens of major media organizations and tech companies.

I will miss Amazon’s Dash buttons:

I am more sad about Amazon discontinuing Dash buttons and rendering them useless than I probably should be. I only use one button, to refill Bagel’s dog food when it’s running low, and it’s so easy I have contemplated ordering more. Thankfully I didn’t, because as of a month from now none of them are going to work.

Farewell

After nearly five years with Gawker Media, I’m moving on. I’ll be heading over to Thrillist in a few weeks as Managing Editor, Strategy & Content. The move is bittersweet, as many of you have become a dysfunctional family to me. Yes, I’m talking about you, Kidder.

Gawker.TV will carry on as Gawker’s video channel, Matt Cherette will be incorporated into Gawker.com and Whitney Jefferson will move over to Jezebel. I’m sure they will shine in their new roles, and I thank them for all their dedication over the past year.

I’m truly grateful for the time spent getting to know all of you, and I wish everyone the best. I’ll still be in SoHo, and I hope to see everyone around the neighborhood.
