Payments are moving faster every day, and the industry is taking bold steps to create secure solutions for a variety of payments needs. As industry leaders, such as NACHA, The Clearing House, the Federal Reserve and others pursue complementary paths to move payments faster, it is imperative to stay up to speed on the developments. NACHA began offering a ubiquitous Same Day ACH Credit capability in September 2016. Same Day ACH Debits will begin flowing through the ACH Network in September 2017. The Clearing House is developing and making preparations to deploy a real-time payments service. The Federal Reserve’s Faster Payments Task Force, which is engaging the industry as part of its Strategies for Improving the U.S. Payment System, continues its efforts with a final deliverable expected soon.
