Bloomsbury – Spring Market

Jun 8, 2017 By quiltjane 5 Comments

“Step into the world where time stands still. Drink a cup of

tea, read a book, breathe in the aroma of a beautiful

garden … let your imagination run free. The Bloomsbury

Collection merges today’s modernism with the past influence of

the Bloomsbury aesthetic in design, art, textiles and literature.

Arriving in shops Oct 2017 is our new collection – Bloomsbury. A collection of fresh blues, teal, navy, grey, soft greens and a splash of coral.  Here is our display at St Louis for Spring Market. I was very blessed to have a group of friends from my local quilting group and abroad making a variety of gorgeous bags, totes, pillows, soft toys, pouches and pincushions.

This beautiful pillow was made by Sharon Frazer, owner of Patches of Indooroopilly based on the nested churn dash block. I love the silver – grey Moda chambray border and the fussy cut froggy in the centre.

This delightful group of bags were made by Vanessa (@sewbunny) and Leanne (@loveitquilting). From left to right – The Sew on the Go bag from Cottonway, The Goody, Goody Binding Kit by @lellaboutique (free tutorial and video), Sherri McConnell Simple Zipper Pouch (free video tutorial) and large/small zippy pouches.

In our modern quilting group, we have the delightful Ruth and Julie who made a bag from charms which we have affectionally named the Ruth and Julie bag. The large bag was made by Laura @ltaylorandco and the mini version by Nerida @quiltaroundtheclock.

This cool project bag is a pattern by Sew Sweetness  – The Amethyst Project Bag.  Vanessa @sew.bunny did an amazing job sewing this bag in our new fabrics. I dressed it up with the pencil block from the Splendid Sampler™ sew-a-long with the intention of storing all my Splendid blocks and notions as I sew along.

These two cute pincushions were made by my friend Deb @sewologist. A traditional pineapple block and my Local Quilt Shop block from the Splendid Sampler™ sew-a-long. The pouches are another Sam Hunter design – Chunky Wee Sippy pouches and the pattern is found here.

My lovely friend and neighbour, Tania, made me this Japanese style tote using 3″ squares of Bloomsbury and Moda Denim.  The pattern is called Lattice Totes (I am not sure if it still available).

Vanessa Qualischefski (aka @sew.bunny) made the cutest patchwork bunny by Pauline at Funky Friends Factory Pattern found here.

The pincushion is the ‘Turning Points’ pincushion designed and made by Sam Hunter. A sweet pincushion made using 3-D prairie points. Pattern found here.

This was a fun quilt I made which will eventually end up on one of the beds at home. Using the Moda grey chambray and 1 1/2″ and 2 1/2″ strips of fabric to make an improv log cabin block.

This was another quick quilt I made for the spare room using 2 1/2″ strips and 45-degree triangles for the border. I appliqued fussy cut flowers between the pieced triangles on the border as a feature. Sometimes, I like to make a quilt using every print to see how they play together.

I cannot thank enough the people who made projects for me to dress up my space at quilt market. I am the luckiest person on earth.
