#GTMTips: Automatically duplicate Google Analytics hits to Snowplow

My latest tip is for how to make use of the recently released Google Analytics adapter for Snowplow (https://snowplowanalytics.com/). You'll be using a customTask (what else?) to duplicate the Google Analytics hit payload to your Snowplow batch pipeline.

Women in the GDE program

I have been a Google developer expert since 2013. I was the fifth woman to enter the program. Someone tagged me in a thread that was going on on Twitter.

Curious that none of the prominent dev women I know are a @GoogleDevExpert. E.g. @stubbornella @Una @anatudor. Classic Google bro culture.

As twitter didn't give me enough room to fully express my opinion I thought i would post it here.

Lets face it there are not a lot of women in tech. You cant get a 50% 50% when there are not 50% of women who would qualify. Its not enough to be an expert in your field to be a GDE you have to want to share that knowledge.

1. Speak at confrences
2. Write a book
3. Have a blog
4. Help on Stack overflow
5. Social media. Google+, twitter, Facebook

And its not enough to do just one of those.

If you are not helping the developer community with your knowledge then your not a GDE. Most people are GDEs already before we spot them. You have to be spotted by someone (googler or gde who can recommend you) or apply yourself. Women IMO are less likely to apply themselves. I would never have applied myself, even after four years in the program i still don't feel worthy of my dual GDE titles.

There is also the issue with time. Some woman put family responsibilities above helping the developer community. I understand that. I only started doing this myself when my daughter moved to the university. I have time now to dedicate to what i want to do. Helping other developers learn to love google development

Identity platform GDE's

The Google Developer expert website has now been updated. You can see a list of all the new Identity platform GDEs.

I was at a conference this weekend and while i have been a Google Developer expert for Google Analytics for three years now i must say the Identity platform tag has a bigger wow factor. As soon as i say to people i am a Google Developer expert for identity platform they go " WOW". Sure makes me sound like i know what i am doing doesn't it?
