If steroid injections no longer help for arthritis there is another field of medicine called Regenerative Medicine where platelet-rich plasma (PRP) drawn from your own blood can help with providing and signaling for more growth factors when injected into a joint. This can also be used for tendon and ligament injuries such as plantar fasciitis and sprains.

Also available are graft materials in the form of an injectable product harvested from amniotic tissue (human placenta) that can be injected which works in a similar manner. These go through the same rigorous testing as other allografts from tissue banks such as tendons, bone, and corneas.

And last, there is one FDA regulated laboratory in the US that produces live stem cell products for injection which are harvested from Wharton's jelly, which is found within umbilical cord blood of human newborns.
