Are You Using HTTPS? (https://goo.gl/YKJhjs)

Have you ever noticed that little green lock icon in your #browser when you're on a website? Usually, this can be seen on websites where you can shop for goods and have to provide credit card information. In the industry, this is known as an SSL certificate which stands for secure sockets layer and websites using this type of encryption ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral.

If you've been on the fence about making the switch, in July of this year Google might be providing a very good reason to get your website secured. Google's browser, Chrome, will start warning users that web pages served over HTTP are not secure. Aside from delivering a somewhat scary message to users, moving forward not being secured can negatively impact your search results.

An article in CSO shared more:

Just like American citizens confirm their identity with driver's licenses that are issued by the DMV, websites prove their identity with digital certificates. The presence of digital certificates assures users that they are on the correct website and that their login information is not being mined by hackers.

Not only do the TLS/SSL protocols allow companies to protect and secure their websites using industry best practices, these protocols ultimately provide consumers and other casual browsers with peace of mind when they see the lock symbol in their URL bar.
