More on Seaborne Freight, the strange company that got a £13.8million government contract to handle Ramsgate-Ostend traffic in case of a no deal Brexit.
1) The company was incorporated on 5 April 2017, with no ships and a equity of £374,275. A curiously small sum for this type of business: new ferries easily cost £150 million.
2) Around October 2017, media reported that Seaborne Freight would start their Ramsgate-Ostend business with three ships in March 2018. One of them presently named Al Andalus Express, a ferry with a capacity of 90 vehicles.
3) Come March 2018, Ostend Port could not confirm the matter. Spanish media report that the Al Andalus Express had been contracted by a Spanish carrier to serve the Canaries.
4) Come August 2018, Seaborne Freight announces that they are ready to roll by the end of the year.
Oh, and then there is the web page of Seaborne Freight at https://seabornefreight.com/
a) the online booking login is... a screenshot of an online booking login. I kid you not. But hey! its linked to the timetable.
b) The timetable is empty. But there is another screenshot of an online booking login. This time leading to google.co.uk
c) There is a recruitment page. Saying 'coming soon'.
d) The privacy policy still contains the placeholder [Business name] twice instead of the name of the company. Also, no mentioning of GDPR.
