Church Celebrates Neighbors Helping Neighbors - Church of Scientology Seattle and Scientology Environmental Task Force Neighbor Day cleanup
Church of Scientology celebrates Neighbor Day by helping keep Seattle green and clean.
The Seattle chapter of The Way to Happiness Foundation and the Church of Scientology of Washington State sponsored an annual community cleanup February 11, on Seattle's Neighbor Day.
According to Seattle(.)gov: “Neighbor Day is a special day set aside to reach out to neighbors, make new friends, and express thanks to those who help make your neighborhood a great place to live. Residents, businesses, or community groups are all encouraged to participate however they like. The main goal is simply to reach out and connect with your neighbors through generosity."
The Scientology Environmental Task Force joined community leaders at Counterbalance Park—a 12,000-square-foot urban gathering place in the heart of the Queen Anne neighborhood. The groups fanned out across the local business district, cleaning the streets and picking up bags of trash.
The cleanup was done in conjunction with the City of Seattle's Adopt-A-Street program, which provided the tools, gloves and bags for the activity.
The Scientology Environmental Task Force has been an active member of the city's Adopt-A-Street program longer than any other group in Seattle and has been recognized by the City for its environmental work.
The Seattle chapter of The Way to Happiness Foundation and the Task Force, which work together on community projects, are inspired by The Way to Happiness by L. Ron Hubbard, the nonreligious moral code based wholly on common sense. Precept 12, “Safeguard and Improve Your Environment," states:
“There are many things one can do to help take care of the planet. They begin with the idea that one should. They progress with suggesting to others they should. “Man has gotten up to the potential of destroying the planet. He must be pushed on up to the capability and actions of saving it. “It is, after all, what we're standing on."

Charity Coalition offers expansion for non-profits
On March 15th, the Charity Coalition will hold its networking luncheon in the historic Fort Harrison, religious retreat of the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization. All members and supporters of non-profits are invited.
The Charity Coalition has hosted luncheons since September 2014 and held two annual banquets, providing resources and networking opportunities for non-profits to expand their operations.
The March luncheon will highlight Keep Pinellas Beautiful (KPB), the local chapter of the national charity, Keep America Beautiful. KPB fulfills its mission of improving and protecting our natural environment through raising community awareness and engagement.
The luncheon's program will also feature a special “round-table networking" for attendees to participate in and expand their contacts. There is no cost to attend.
“I'm so glad that you reached out to me and I was able to attend," said one attendee, “I met exactly the right person and now we are going to be working together! I'll be at the next one, just mark me down."
The Church of Scientology acquired the Fort Harrison in 1975. Since its top-to-bottom restoration in 2009, the Fort Harrison has hosted over 500 community events. Its facilities are made available to non-profits for their own event. http://gplus.link/dsxns

United for Human Rights Featured in National Museum
The United for Human Rights program plays an important role in Atlanta's legacy of freedom.
In Atlanta, Georgia, the historic soul of the civil rights movement, the flame of that era is kept alive in a stunning museum—the Center for Civil and Human Rights. To help accomplish the Center's purpose of creating a space where visitors may explore and be empowered by the fundamental rights shared by all humanity, the award-winning videos of United for Human Rights are featured in the exhibit.
The Center was first imagined by civil rights legends Evelyn Lowery and former United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young and was launched by former Mayor Shirley Franklin. The exhibits educate visitors on the bridge between the American civil rights movement and the contemporary struggle for human rights around the world.
Established in 2007, the 42,000-square-foot facility is located on Pemberton Place on land donated by the Coca-Cola Company.

Nashville Church of Scientology Pastor Releases New Publication on Religious Freedom
The Pastor of the Church of Scientology in Nashville recently unveiled a new publication during a special service in observance of World Interfaith Harmony Week.
“Without freedom of religion, or freedom of thought, freedom itself cannot exist," says Rev. Brian Fesler, pastor of the Nashville Church of Scientology. Rev. Fesler recently organized an interfaith service for the community in observance of World Interfaith Harmony Week, and during the celebration, he unveiled a new publication from the Church's International Office on Freedom of Religion.
The booklet, which includes authoritative texts on the subject of religious freedom, contains what any person might want to know to protect their rights to practice their religion in peace and harmony. The booklet is available in seventeen languages, is downloadable, and contains chapters on the Rights of Parents and Children, Freedom from Discrimination, and the Rights of Employers, Employees and Volunteers.
“These are times that call for all of us to be united as one, not stand apart," said Rev. Fesler, who was excited to bring together the many faiths represented during the service for World Interfaith Harmony Week. “In order to truly combat religious discrimination in this day and age, we have to come together and learn about the religious other."
During the service, members from several faith traditions spoke about why it is important to their faith and to them that all people come together in unity. In this way, the service helped provide a means to showcase religious freedom in its purity. The faiths represented included Sikhs, Baha'is, Baptists, Latter-day Saints, Scientologists, Buddhists, Catholics, and Muslims.

Scientology Nashville Brings Together People of Faith
The Church of Scientology in Nashville opened its doors to all religious communities for a special service in observance of World Interfaith Harmony Week.
Unity was the watchword at the Nashville Church of Scientology February 1 where religious leaders held an interfaith service to help bring people together in harmony.
“These are times that call for all of us to be united as one, not stand apart," said Rev.
