This has become one of my favourite apps as it does its job extremely well and its as basic as it can be. The major downside is that the app/site requires a monthly or yearly subscription service to be able to use all its features. I'd give this 5/5 if i could just do a one time payment like many other more complex trackers.

Great app for family budgeting. Only problem is: goal envelopes always say you need to fill the full amount no matter how much money you put in, then when the goal is reached it's suddenly full. (Eg. "You need to fill $1000 to reach this goal" put $100 towards goal then it says "You need to fill $1000 to reach this goal" instead of changing to $900

I love this app! It allows me to do what I want with my budgeting. Other apps pull your bank transactions and it ends up being more work splitting it all out how I want to. This gives me complete control.

Just about everything is perfect. The only negative is the cost for the full app. A monthly charge is really dumb for an app like this. If it was a one time payment I would have already paid it, but as it is I will just stick with the free version.

For the first time in my life, I now know EXACTLY where my money's going - and more importantly, how much I have left to spend. This is a really powerful app that takes a little bit of setting at the start - but once that's done, it's very simple to record new transactions, etc. The app is backed up by the website, which replicates the functionality and allows you to manage your account. Continually under improvement, Goodbudget is one of my essential apps.

If you use the envelope system this app is for you. We converted 6 months ago from the PC based MoneyMap software from Crown. We use it on 1 Android, 1 iPhone and 1 PC (website). Updates between devices works well. There are a few things that are much easier to do on the PC but all in all we are very happy with GB.

Love the app with the exception that sometimes even though it saves your entry, it doesn't do the math. Deleting the entry and reentering it usually fixes the issue but if you aren't paying attn when you enter it, you don't know which entry is the problem. Without this single glitch, I would give it a 5 star rating.

I really like that app, but it took me a little longer than I'd like to admit to figure out the difference between adding money to an envelope, and setting an envelope to a specific amount. Once I played around with the app a few times, I was able to figure it out and now the app has helped me track my spending.

Great for budgeting if you're a beginner. Wish it had a reset all funds for the month button. Instead the app will add more into envelopes monthly

Hi Mark, You can setup your Envelopes to reset instead of rollover. Just editing your scheduled envelope fill and choose the "Set to budget amount" option instead of the "Add budget amount" option for each monthly Envelope.

Interface is awesome, but there's no background sync. I don't like manually opening the app to get it to sync. I want to record transactions in stores without reception, but then I forget to open the app when I get back home which means my wife doesn't get the latest transaction. Auto background sync = 5 stars

Used Mint for a couple years. Drove me crazy. First, it couldn't sync with one of my bank accounts, so trying to reconcile transactions was actually harder and more error-prone than not syncing at all. Worse, the mobile app updates info every time you open it, which would be fine except that the updating process prevents you from entering a transaction, so what happens is that you'll start entering transaction info, and the menu will close before you finish adding it. Then you start adding info again, and the same thing happens. That can happen up to three times at once because of how the app updates info. Supremely annoying. I've tested out 8 different budgeting apps. Goodbudget nails it. I'd strongly advise people who assume, as I did, that auto-syncing must be a necessary feature to try Goodbudget. You can download bank info directly into your GB account. And it doesn't just throw transactions in there, which is how mistakes occur. There's a really clever drag/drop screen that lets you choose which transactions to add (to avoid duplicates) and whether or not to edit the information. This is actually far easier than using auto-sync features and hoping for the best. Safer too.

Pointless if you spend monthly on more than 10 things, yes a mere 10. Ironically you'll have to make an envelope for this app, as you must pay nearly £5 a month to list more! Uninstalled.

Hi Craig, On the free version, you get up to 10 primary Envelopes and 10 more envelopes (quarterly, annuals, goals, etc.). If you'd like to stay on the free version, you can try consolidating your Envelopes and making more general categories like "Food" instead of "Eating out" and "Groceries."

Replaced our physical envelopes. Way better, we feel in total control of our spending now, and very convenient to use.
