It's cool of you want to learn more well known languages like Russian, Dutch or German but what about other languages such as Chinese, Japanese and so forth? I really want to learn Korean but you don't supply the opportunity to learn it. I have tried other language learning sites but they don't do as good of a job so I came to you. Can something be done about the other languages of the world that are missing?

You learn a lot. Downside is you can't adjust the font size and some of it is too small or too faint to see particularly in low light. The microphone appears odd at times. Sometimes it will keep flashing red meaning wrong pronunciation of the most basic words you know you are pronouncing correctly. It even flashed red for a native German speaker I asked to try. Other times it works fine. I'd still recommend it though.

I'm already fluent in five languages, I'm 45 and did it "old school", but I always had a hard time with Russian until I started this a few months ago and I LOVE IT! I like how absolutely everything is in the Cyrillic alphabet because you pick it up so much faster with this app. I can't recommend this app enough!

Exelenté this app is brilliant. It not only shows you the words but it asks you to pronounce them, spell them and does English to Spanish and back again. So it really does help you learn! And I got six months free for getting six months for £29.90. Very reasonable price! 😍

Most importantly, it makes learning fun. I'm learning Russian right now and I can't wait to take on the next lesson. Be warned though, it takes the long, slow route to learning languages somewhat to an academic standard. Don't expect to be proficient in just a month or two, it demands more time than that.(unless you spend hours learning each day) The structure of the lessons are good, the tools, audio for pronunciation, and the ability to review your work or tracking your vocabulary as it grows are fantastic features. It did however skip some lessons for some reason, forcing me to go back and manually catch up with the ones I missed. So make sure you don't skip a single one!

You say it's free but it isn't. You should write that first two parts are free and afterwards we have to pay for it. I can see it is a good app and I understand why you need payment, but save us all the time and trouble and be fair to people, just say that we have to pay for it. Don't say it is free because it's not. Good day to you

A few years ago when I was in school I wanted to learn Italian and found this amazing app it was all free and I learned a lot. I've come back to it and sure it's gotten better when it has more features like making you pronounce words, but I really don't want to pay to see lesson two onwards. Love what you've done just not liking I have to pay.

There was a lot of work that went into the development of the app and its materials. Since we don't spam our users with third party ads, we need to collect subscription fees in order to keep existing. Babbel

It's a great app. Really well structured the learning path for the language and it's really easy to use. I really like the review parts where you can repeat the topic once again. Eventhough the content is decent, the app itself has minor bugs, like not appearing words, skipped lines in exercises, buggy keyboard and laggy voice playback. Would be great to have an option to import all the words from previous lessons too into the review manager if you decide to reinstall the app and to manage the state of the lessons if you feel uncomfortable with a topic. Furthermore I could imagine a glossary section too to quickly review the grammatic rules if you need them or you have just forgotten them. All in all it's not a perfect app but it's way better then the ones that I have already tried.

I love the app so far. I've learnt a lot and quite quickly. I enjoy sitting on my balcony, on my break, or even on the tube learning little bits at a time - I never thought I would catch on so quickly and feel so morivated! Sometimes I wish it would go a little quicker, particularly when I'm feel confident but the fact that it makes me feel so confident proves that it works. I wish there was more opportunity to practice speaking and forming sentences in the language I'm learning (spanish) but I feel it's helped me learn a lot so far. I think a forum where you can talk to other learners of that language would be really a good feature. However, still a really great app.

No better than Duolingo. And it's not free. So don't be fooled. Duolingo is a much more established app in language learning. Babbel uses the exact method as duolingo. This feels like a waste of money for membership when you get the exact same thing but better (more languages and bigger community for discussion) with duolingo.

Very good. Only thing missing are prompts in the beginners courses that point to other lectures like nouns, verbs, etc. that should be done before or after particular lectures to augment the learning effect. At the moment have to find them by trial and error which is a bit frustrating.

I have been learning German for the last few months from my tablet anywhere, anytime and I am so happy with the cozyness both the app and the platform offer. The only thing that is leaking regarding content that I've noticed so far is translating from German to English, translations are not always adjusted to the spirit of English Language which may lead to certain missunderstanding of German or any other language that is studied through English. On the other hand I can suggest introducing bigger grammar charts with rules, not to be filled in (that can distract from memorizing) but to help understand and assimilate better. A little bit of traditional approach every now and then cannot hurt. The app itself can run a bit slow sometimes or scramble letters while typing in so one has to double check always but it is still worth it. Keep up the good work. No one can beat your price!

This is a great app, I'm using it to learn Spanish and have learned (and remembered) a lot in a really short time. The repetition of new words and having to spell them is working really well for me, it really helps new words and phrases 'sink in' and, more importantly, stay in, it also really helps you understand the language rather than just learning vocabulary. I've come across the odd glitch but nothing major, overall this is a really good app and well worth the cost.

I like the application "vocabulary review" which helps to consolidate in a funny way new vocabulary learned. I have a suggestion of improvement: while learning a new language, every day we get new vocabulary from different sources (books, newspapers, internet, movies...). Why do not allow students to add in your performant tool their own new vocabulary? Thanks

This app is just awesome. Easy learning at your own pace and well-crafted, with lots of specialised courses (like idioms and specific and useful situations and pronunciation exercises, etc.), and everything for a more than favourable price. The only suggestion I would place is that the fields for entering the words in the exercises shouldn't be exactly the size of the words to be entered - I feel like I would be better served by having to correct more errors at the end of the lesson, than by recognising a mistake only because the word I wrote doesn't fit in the blank. Maybe you want to think about changing that ;-)

The app is great except for the voice recognition, I stopped using the app a few months ago but decided to give it a try again after they claimed to have improved the voice recognition. So I put to the test by pronouncing the words badly and it was nearly impossible fail, all they have done is lower the threshold, stop conning your customers.

Learning Spanish. It is a good app to start learning with for the very basics, but after the first few beginners courses the app loses structure and gets frustrating. I found that things weren't explained at all and rushed through.

Very disappointed. Tried the Russian course, and was way too basic. It only included a few grammar exercises, the rest was more or less basic vocabulary. The app itself is good, but lacking in content. Not eorth the money.

This is my favourite app to learn a language. It looks better on a PC, but it's fine è also on telephones and tablets. They keep improving it, and that is really appreciated. Only The vocal recognition does not work great, but maybe this is my problem 😬

I was enjoying it until I realised I can only do one level per course and then I have to pay. It's a bit disappointing as it's advertised as free. I prefer it to memrise and Duolingo but will have to stick to the free options for now.

I'm pretty happy with the app. Wish it could be structured a bit more for those learning for work environments vs travel. Also, a bit annoying that it takes a few steps to find the accents on the app keyboard. Otherwise it's great!

Thanks for a great review! For most learning languages we have a course on the language for business, so be sure to explore the courses and check it out! Also, you can hold down on any key to bring up its special symbols, eg. hold down on the S key to bring up the ß symbol!

Good afternoon. Why do you say on your Babbel website I can contact you on your UK number from Monday to Friday from 9am when any of your agent is available since 9am. I also sent you yesterday email and nobody replied at all. I'm sending you here what I have sent you in my email. Great app! Used to use Duolingo but this is so much better and actually useful. Only downside is that the keyboard is picking up different letters from the one I'm touching (only in this app, on the galaxy s8). Hopefully the next update will resolve this.

Too difficult for Beginners. No clear structure on where to start. Beginners lessons? Hardly beginner. Ridiculous spelling exercises on early lessons make for frustrated learning. Not fun. Layout of the app is the best thing. Very organized and easy to navigate. I really wanted to like it.

After almost 4 years and be learned 2 languages through this app, I will have to change my rate for 1 star due to the app shut down, freezes and don't download the off line content as well. I wasted over 1 hour trying do a simple lesson and still didn't get it accomplisse. If I buy an app service to learn is because my time is short and I don't wanna wasting hours going at language schools. Please, fix it up.

Works great and focused on words nessesary to start speaking. Really well structured in comparison to European level standards. I studied A1 German with Babbel alongside my books when I moved here and after a few months I could order food and ask for help in shops. Now I learn Spanish and it has already helped in my authenticity when speaking and my girlfriend understands me. Plus good that the Spanish is not American unlike Duolingo.

I've used Duolingo and Memrise for a year or two and recently decided to try Babbel to see if it is a good addition. Babbel is better at dialogues. Memrise is adding dialogues, but Babbel's are much richer at this point. Memrise is the best for learning vocabulary. Duolingo has very good lesson design and interface. Babbel also has good lesson design, but the interface is a tad awkward at times. I'd recommend doing Memrise (with one of their official lessons) along with either Babbel or Duolingo.

Worth the yearly subscription. I've used duolingo with little to no success, especially learning a language with a completely different alphabet this app is the best you could ask for. It explains why certain letters are used and which context is used when and why. Fantastic. Would recommend to anyone who seriously wants to learn a new language.

Just trying the app I like it so far but I don't see an option to choose from French, France and French, Quebec... Because I am Canadian I deal with more people from Quebec and would rather be able to speak the language there way as I know that there is a difference. Also would like more free options I was only able to take a bit before having to pay, I know that you can't have it both ways but a little more would be nice

I really like the learning system a lot, it has a feel reminiscent of a Buzzfeed quiz. I've picked up the basics of Italian in less than a week. My only wish is for the speech recognition function to operate properly- it literally just doesn't work at all.
