Penn in Washington

Over the years, Penn in Washington has helped thousands of students find internships in Washington, engaged hundreds of alumni in mentoring and hiring interns from Penn, and organized dozens of events designed to give Penn students opportunities to explore some of the many fascinating topics addressed in the public policy arena and to meet some of the most interesting decisionmakers in Washington, many of whom are proud Penn alumni.

Through the Penn in Washington Semester Program, students spend either the fall or spring semester taking classes and interning in Washington, D.C. - and, with the new Washington and the World Scholars Program, they have the option to spend the summer abroad as well. During the academic year, we host many events on campus, including lectures, lunches, and other events for students interested in living and working in Washington. In the summer, our focus shifts entirely to D.C., where we offer a summer program that is free for all Penn students who find themselves in Washington over the summer. Throughout the year, we offer advice, internship help, alumni networking opportunities, and much more to Penn students.

Penn in Washington is part of the political science department at the University of Pennsylvania and is housed in Leadership Hall. We are grateful to receive support from the Fox Leadership Program and the Gentle Foundation.
