Monday's Get Motivated: Featuring Guest Author CC Mackenzie
My secret
dream was to write a romance - a good romance, a great romance. When I think of
the years I secretly wrote little romance stories and hoarded them in boxes and
fiddled around with them, I could weep. I couldn't stop making up stories and
tales and fantasies. And that is what a writer does. You can't stop writing.
And I think that's the key point.
Three
years ago I had a mastectomy. Sounds horrible. And it was. BUT I lost the fear
of failure and went for it and wrote from the heart, dug down deep and, thank
you God, connected with readers.
I doubt
I'll ever reach dizzy heights, but that's okay because readers got the stories.
Readers
will get you, too. So, just keep on going. Take a breath and write what you
want to read and cannot find.
And one
by one your readers will find you. Do not hold back Forget what editors and publishers ever told
you and follow your heart.
This whole
business is so overwhelming, but at the end of the day, readers want more
stories that they love.
CC MACKENZIE is the author of three completed contemporary romances due out
this year. Reckless Nights in Rome ,
A Stormy Spring. Run Rosie Run is due out before the end of 2012.
She released a vampire romance novella Big Trouble in China in
September 2012 the first of three in a series. Capturing Coco ’s Heart another contemporary romance is out in
early 2013.
A born storyteller, she creates a
fast paced blend of humour, poignancy and a deep sensual warmth that speaks
directly to her readers. The eldest of two children, Christine lives in South Cheshire , United Kingdom . She has two
daughters and one son.
