Bonjour … and a Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American friends … wishing you all a wonderful day, blessed with the joy of family and friends! Our fabulous new challenge over at Time Out starts today … we’re inspired by these words … ‘Snowflakes are winter’s butterflies’. Here’s where I went …The background stripes are sliced up washi tape and the snowflake is double layered … the watercolour smooshed one is the positive from this card I made a little while ago … it’s topped with one cut from gold card. I did a little surgery on the Uniko snowflakes, trimming the outer edges into points to get a frosty look to the shapes, before popping them up on foam tape over the stripes. The Hero Arts sentiment was stamped in Delicata Gold and I scattered some tiny gold stars around it.

Bonjour encore! This is my second post of the day … if you’re looking for my Time Out Mid Challenge Reminder, it’s here. If not, I hope you’ll enjoy my final card as Surprise Party Guest over at Seize the Birthday … thanks so much to Nancy and the team for the invitation and for the wonderful warm welcome … it’s been such fun! This fortnight, we have a vellum or acetate topping to tempt you … here’s my pretty little number …

I used one of my first purchases (Blissful Botanicals from Lawn Fawn) to create a flower strewn panel … and coloured it with Zig Watercolour Markers. Yep, finally got a set … and can now understand why everyone’s been raving about them … they’re fabulous! I wanted to create a halo of colour around each image, so used the markers direct to the stamped blooms and leaves and then went back over them with a waterbrush to push the colour outside of the lines. Once it was all dry, the flowers were highlighted with white gel pen and I trimmed the panel down. The vellum sentiment strip (Avery Elle, embossed in white) was wrapped round the panel and attached at the back, the panel was mounted flat on the card base, and I adhered a slender slice of black card to the edge. It’s bling-free … all that vibrant colour and bright white can do the talking!

Time Out DT #44 Mid Challenge Reminder, CAS-ual Fridays #145, The Paper Players #271, SSS Wednesday 18/11

Hello! We’re half way through our ‘CASE … With Your Own Twist’ challenge over at Time Out, where our designer, the amazingly talented Karen, has given us a gorgeous masked and sponged, wonderfully crisp CAS card … it’s a little further down. This week, for your inspirational delight, I strayed a little from the original …

Here’s Karen‘s original and delicious card …

See what I mean about straying? It’s not as far off Karen‘s card as it first appears … mine still has a masked off panel, an image within the sponged area, some splatter and plenty of glorious white space! I taped off the bottom of a white card panel, stamped the WPlus9 polar bear (which was covered with a trimmed out post it mask) and sponged over him with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, using a circle mask made from an MFT die. The SSS star was silver heat embossed, I added some silver splatters and then removed the tape from the bottom of the panel. The sentiment (made from Lawn Fawn‘s Milo’s ABCs) was stamped into the space, which was edged with slender strips of glittery washi tape (that little guy had to be sitting on something!). A scattering of stars was added around the sentiment, the polar bear got a single star of his own to hold, and I popped the panel up on the card base on craft foam.

Hello! This next fortnight at Time Out, we have a fabulous ‘CASE … With Your Own Twist’ challenge for you … our designer to CASE is the wonderfully talented and delightful Karen Dunbrook from Snippets … her gorgeous card is a little further down. Here’s my take …

and here’s Karen‘s amazing inspiration …

You can see where my focus was … stencilled panel, splatters and a sentiment with different fonts … my twist was making a one layer card and the graduated colour combo. I masked off a panel on my card base, die cut a few Poppystamps‘ Lorelei Leaf sprigs out of post it tape, arranged the leaves on the panel and sponged/blended four colours of Distress Ink over it. A little water was splattered over the panel and once it was dry, I stamped the Neat & Tangled sentiment (made up of two stamps), coloured the little heart with Distress Ink and added a coat of Glossy Accents to it.

Seize The Birthday 5/11- Surprise Party Guest, Virginia’s View #20, Winnie & Walter JITW, SSS Monday 2/11

If you’re looking for my Time Out DT post from earlier today, it’s here … otherwise, stay tuned! I was honoured and excited to be the inaugural Surprise Party Guest at Seize the Birthday during October … and I’m equally thrilled to have been asked by the lovely Nancy to stay on for the November party too … way to celebrate! This fortnight we have no toppings at all … in other words, you can play along with any birthday card you create … I went for typical party decorations on mine … shiny balloons and shimmery confetti …

An almost one layer card, stamped with a sentiment from SSS and balloons from Winnie & Walter. The balloons were masked and each triple/partially stamped with various shades of the same colour to give them a sense of dimension … and of course they were treated to lashings of Wink of Stella and a generous helping of Glossy Accents, as befits a birthday party! This was one of those moments where a MISTI would’ve been handy … without one, though, I went all old fashioned and eyeballed it … it seems to have worked out ok! The strings and little bow were hand drawn, I added the strip of DP down the side and scattered some confetti stars around the sentiment.

We’d be delighted to have you playing along with us at Seize the Birthday … there’s a heap of inspiration from the DT over at the blog … and for those of you in the throes of Christmas card making, just think what a lovely change it would be do make something completely different! We’re mid way through our lovely Christmas themed challenge at Time Out … with the optional twist of using pink or purple … and after last week’s pink extravaganza, this time I went with a little understated purple …

I ombré sponged Chipped Sapphire and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink over a white card panel (Seedless Preserves isn’t in my stash … yet!) and added some Perfect Pearls splatters over it. The nativity image is from Hero Arts Greatest Gift (partly masked off), double heat embossed in white to give it some glossy dimension. I trimmed the panel to size, popped it up on the cardbase on craft foam, added a single gem to the star and stamped the Uniko sentiment in Brilliance Starlight Black. Voilà … the reason for the season …

Hello! We have a lovely theme for you at Time Out this fortnight … it’s Christmas … with the optional twist of using pink or purple. I went with the pink (a very vibrant one!) … and a little added gold …

I inked my craft mat with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and a little Delicata Gold ink, spritzed it with water and started smooshing a white card panel, doing a little, drying it, doing some more, drying it … and so on till I was happy with the result. The panel was trimmed to size, a snowflake from Uniko was cut from the middle of it and the sentiment was white embossed … it’s made up with stamps from Uniko and SSS. I adhered the die cut smooshed panel to a white card base, cut another snowflake from a spare piece of white card, coated it with Wink of Stella and pieced it and the loose smooshed pieces back into the die cut space. Voilà! Here’s a look at all the shimmer and shine …

This is my first Christmas card of the year … how are you doing with yours?
