DCD #242 – Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!  Lots of food, lots of family, lots of leftovers, and you don’t have to buy presents for everybody!  :)  This will be the first holiday season that my son won’t be home for.  He’s a marine, and we’ve been lucky so far, but it’s finally our turn to be without our loved one for the holidays.  He’s on deployment and won’t be home until springtime.  :(  But we’ve invited other family members, in-laws, so we’ll still have a full house.  I love a full house!

For our Die Cuttin’ Divas’ Thanksgiving challenge, I thought about making place cards or little gifties for everyone’s place setting, but I really needed Thanksgiving cards, so that’s what I went with.  I used the adorable roasted turkey from page 61 of the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge.

P1110654webP1110656webI made six of these altogether, one for each of my pen pals and one for my son.

I hope you link up your Thanksgiving project to Die Cuttin’ Divas for a chance to win this week’s prize.  The challenge begins November 17th and ends on the 22nd.  Our sponsor is Sherri Baldy Digistamps!

Cut it Up – Inspired by . . .

CIU challenge blogIt’s time for another challenge at Cut it Up Challenge Blog.  This time, our inspiration comes from books, movies, or songs.

I had a couple ideas but none of them jelled into anything specific.  My family loves to watch Christmas movies to get into the spirit, so I made a Christmas card.

P1090344webThe file is from Lettering Delights; it’s called Season’s Tweetings.  He looks so happy!  Dressed for the weather, this little birdie is just ignoring the cold and singing his song.  I wonder if his feet are cold . . .

I used glitter glue and puffy paint to make some details in the snow and on the snowflakes.  Here’s the inside:

P1090349webThis challenge is sponsored by One Happy Cut.  They donated a $15 gift certificate.  I hope you join in this challenge with us.  We love to see how you are inspired!

Stick it Down – November, 2015

Hello!  Here is the latest card sketch for Stick it Down.  I love this one!  That blue element reminded me of a film strip, so that’s the way I went with it.  Since it’s getting later and later in the year, I went with a winter theme and used some beautiful stamps I got from Unity Stamp Company:  Like a Snowflake; Tags, Glorious Tags; and Winter Joy. Peace. Love.

P1110267web

The filmstrip is an svg saved on my computer.  I used a monochromatic-ish color palette.  Here is the sentiment for the inside:

This is a versatile sketch.  We’d love to see what you do with it!  Link your card  in the left-hand column over at Stick it Down!

DCD #241 – Buttons!

It’s time for another Die Cuttin’ Divas challenge.  November 16th is Button Day!  I wonder if you’ll notice something familiar about this card?  :)  I used last week’s sketch to make it.

P1110634web

I knew I wanted to use buttons as buttons, so I looked for a file that had clothing, and because I challenged myself to use my Cricut cartridges for my Die Cuttin’ Divas posts, I looked there first.  I found this adorable snowman on the Snow Friends cartridge.  I love his happy face, his cute outfit and his bird friend.

I have buttons all over the place, plus a bagful that my neighbor just gave me.  It’s always fun to look through buttons.  They feel so nice in your hands!

P1110638web     P1110636web

Since I cut the snowman at 2.5 inches, the eyes were really small and didn’t cut well.  I actually lost one of them.  This is how I solved that problem:

P1110644web

I glued on his smile and placed the above piece right over it on his face.  Then I filled in the eyes with a thin black marker.  Came out pretty good!!

Here are the details for our button challenge:  begins on November 10th and ends on the 15th. The sponsor is Sherri Baldy Digistamps.

DCD #240 – November Sketch

November sketchHere it is!

The first week of the month is always a fun sketch challenge at Die Cuttin’ Divas.  It’s a horizontal one this time, but you can turn it any way that works for you!  I made mine into a tag for a birthday gift and chose papers to coordinate with the wrapping paper.

P1110609webThis adorable squirrel is from the Cindy Loo Circut cartridge.  I don’t own the whole cartridge, but I bought a few images from Cricut.com and this was one of them.  Look at that awesome squirrel!!
P1110608web I may have to buy that entire cartridge some day!

Here is the gift. P1110612webP1110613webNow it’s your turn to use this awesome sketch to create a tag, card, layout . . . however it inspires you!  Then link it up to Die Cuttin’ Divas for a chance to win.

Cut it Up – Sweets for my Sweet!

CIU challenge blogI can’t get that song out of my head!

Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my honey … But that’s all I know of it.  It just keeps repeating, and repeating, and repeating …

As you may have guessed, Sweets for my Sweet is the theme for this CIU challenge.

Here is my project:

P1110605web

These are treat boxes from Lettering Delights called I Love Candy Corn.

P1110606web

They were super easy to put together, and they turned out real cute.

P1110603webP1110604web

(I think I mixed up their mouths, though.  Oops!  They don’t mind.)

Our sponsor this time around is As Cute as a Button.  They have a great selection of buttons there.  I just picked some up for some knitting projects I’ve been making for someone special — my very first grandchild!  She is due in early December!!

Come on over to Cut it Up Challenges and check out all the sweetness there, then link up your own project!

DCD #239 – Happy Halloween!!

Still thinking spooky thoughts this week at Die Cuttin’ Divas.  Our theme is simply Happy Halloween.  Here’s my card:

P1110342web

It’s a print and cut using clip art from pcCrafters.  I have hundreds of dollars worth of clip art from them saved on my computer, and with my Cameo I can get really good use out of it.  I’m not that skilled with scissors, so the trace feature comes in very handy!

P1110343web

The Trick or Treat sentiment is actually ribbon, the last three inches on a roll that was in my ribbon box.  P1110344web

P1110346web

This Happy Halloween challenge begins October 27th and ends on November 1st.  I’m sure you have something you can link up!  Come on over!
