Affordable Lucite Cabinet Pulls Review

It's July, which means that we're only two months away from the new house being DONE! We've ordered a few things for the house and they came in last week, so I wanted to share my review/thoughts.

I fell in love with the lucite pulls from Lux Holdups, but I just couldn't wrap my head around paying $56 a pull for the kitchen. Nope, nope, nope. I'm just too cheap for that sort of thing, and I needed way too many pulls. This is eventually why I switched from gold to chrome in the kitchen.

I scoured the internet for similar lucite handles, and I came across these, which of course were out of stock. They finally came back in stock (and are still in stock), and I bought four 10 packs of the small size and three of the larger for a total of 70 pulls to use around the house. Each pull cost $3.19 plus tax (free shipping), but I did have a coupon for 10% off, so we'll say I paid about $3 each.

Selecting a Stylish New Sofa

What is it with sofas that makes them so hard to buy? I agonize over the thought of picking our next sofa for the new house.

In my lifetime, I’ve purchased a total of three sofas. There was the $699 microfiber cheap sectional that lasted us about 7 years and I only began to slightly hate it years 6 and 7. Then there was the $699 Ashley sofa that lasted us slightly over 2 years (we happily sold it when we moved late last year), but only looked good for about 6 months before I began to hate the damn thing.

Then there’s the 6 year old velvet Chloe sofa from Macy’s that was also $699 (I notice a trend…) and we’re currently using the hell out of it in the apartment. It’s holding up beautifully, but it’s apartment sized (76” inches). I’ll likely put it in my home office to serve as a daybed once we move into the house.

I’ve never spent what I consider to be a hefty amount of money on a sofa. HOWEVER…I’ve also never kept a sofa for a long time. I see people post about how they’ve had a sofa for 20 years, and I’m like, “HOW?! Tell me all your secrets.”

I don’t think I expect a sofa to last 20 years, but I do want to invest in a high quality, mid-range sofa that will look great and feel great for the next 7-10 years. I’d love to spend $699, but I realize you get what you pay for, so we’re bumping up the budget in hopes of getting great quality.

I’ve done an embarrassing amount of research on sofas, and here’s the few I’ve narrowed it down. I know I want a gray hued, durable, pet proof fabric that won’t snag, so I’m leaning towards velvet. I want it to have a more transitional feel. I also want the cushions to stay as fluffy as possible since we use our sofa a lot for watching TV, hosting game nights, napping, etc.

Zevo Flying Insect Trap Review

You know, one of the reasons I chose my current apartment is that it is set around a gorgeous lake and pond. What I failed to think about was the type of insects I'd have to deal with on a daily basis. I am a city girl at heart, and I don't like dealing with flying insects. Every day I look totally silly as I swat around my kitchen and living room trying to get rid of gnats, mosquitoes, fruit flies and any other random thing that comes in my home. It's a really big problem lately, and I've tried EVERYTHING.

We're in and out of our apartment a lot from going to work, to taking Pee Wee out on walks, and throwing the trash out daily to unsuccessfully try to combat this problem. So, I'm taking a slight departure from home decor to gush about the Zevo Flying Insect Trap.

Zevo is an affordable, fabulous new product that uses no chemical insecticides to attract and trap flying insects. For me, that is so important because of Pee Wee. We make it a priority to buy scent free, environmentally friendly products that won't harm us or our dog. This solution is worry free for me and my family.
