On May 21, 1919, the Susan B. Anthony Amendment passed 304-89 in the House, and on June 4 it passed the Senate by a vote of 56-25. In August 1920, Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify the 19th Amendment, officially giving women the right to vote across the United States.
