« Daesh/ISIS is weaker than ever (...) but not wiped off the map ». Important statement by French MoD , as allies are contemplating the consequences of a US withdrawal for their own military presence in Syria - and their national security interests.

Today we honored the memory of the 369 US infantry known as the Harlem Hell Fighters. A unit of African American heroes that served under French command during WWI, fought the longest of all American units and was the first to receive the Croix de guerre.

The richest House districts (median household income, 2017) in *10* states flipped from R to D this election: CO-6; GA-6; IL-6; IA-3; KS-3; MI-11; MN-3; NJ-7; PA-7; SC-1. UT-4 is likely to join, making 11. The rich turn ever more to the Democrats.

My take on UNGA speeches by Trump/ Macron=sovereignty vs. renewed multilateralism. Why is Macron stepping up his rhetoric? bilateral proximity has not reaped much benefit & Europeans start to understand the historical meaning of Trump via

1/ In interview with Le Monde, French MFA Le Drian explains that diplomacy is in crisis because of lack of respect for one's word and manipulation of facts - a veiled indictment of US/Russia.

The US supported EU integration as a bulwark against a Soviet takeover of the continent, which could be better resisted by integrated and prosperous economies. In other words : the EU contributed to protect the US from the Soviet threat.
