Don’t worry about Brexit. You get to keep the offshore empire, probably one of the key reasons for Brexit. Enjoy it!

Remember when cloud companies kicked Brian Kerbs because of DoS? There you have incentives ;-)

There are some positive externalities from a Google but still your interest can be in direct conflict with theirs somewhere in time. Meanwhile you know nothing about security because you outsourced everything.

Just look at bitcoin exchanges and you see that is not true. Cloud companies incentives are no better. You only lose if someone finds out so there are really no incentives. Cloud is the dumbest idea ever.

They are not, that’s the problem. It’s like you assume banks are ultra secure and they aren’t. Outsourcing core assets is dumb, security should be a core asset.

Outsourcing your problems and data is as dumb as it can be ;-)

The problem is that it’s much harder to disrupt than you might think. Meaning that really superior technical solutions will be meaningless if they require huge changes on customers side, even if those changes are for the better.

I guess this is why AV industry is a many billions industry. It’s just an insurance industry, not really a disruptive industry that breaks with the past and really introduces innovative change that makes a difference.

One can always argue that a product can’t disrupt a business because cash flow is king. That’s 100% correct. What needs to be disrupted are the Infosec practices, which most of the time clash with the business practices, and there lies the big problem.

Hardcore anti-tampering mechanisms? They will hate that if it means more work to system administrators, etc. Most will not care at all about the threat model. It breaks their way of doing things so it’s bad.

I absolutely underestimated this. And this is one of the huge and key problems Infosec because business as usual is where most problems come from. But it’s insanely hard to impose that change from the outside, especially a security product.

The most important thing I learnt building a security product from scratch is that your customers are just looking for something that gives them some assurance and let’s them keep doing what they did with minimal disruption. And that’s all wrong!

So now we know. According to DExEU, the UK will lose 2% GDP under soft Brexit, 5% under hard Brexit and 8% under no-deal.
