Hi Laura, goldfinches and great tits were both in our top 10 birds for Big Garden Birdwatch this year, so they're still popular! Discover more here: Thanks!

Hi Jacki, we recommend not cutting hedges and trees between March and August as this is the main breeding season for nesting birds, although some birds may nest outside this period. More info can be found here: Thanks.

Hi Sue, this is certainly a shame! This does look rather suspicious so we would advise to report this to your local wildlife crime officer via 101. I hope this helps!

Hi Martin, sunflower hearts tend to be fine for birds this time of year, unlike peanuts which we advise against at this time of year due to choking hazards but we don't have any such reports with regards to sunflower hearts. I hope this helps! :)

Hi Richie, it is possible that they have nested in the eaves of the house and the bird that flew in was a fledgling. They will most likely be called out by their parents through a small access point.

Hello, it is best to leave it in the box and let the parent bird continue as normal. She will most likely remove the chick herself so she doesn't attract any predators. Enjoy the new family when they emerge!

Hello, it could have been a day time moth possibly a ruby tiger? But it is hard to determine without images or video. If you see one again and are able to get a video, please do send it in to us.

hello, all wild birds are protected by law so to allow a dog to attack and injure a wild bird is a criminal offence and would need reporting to a wildlife crime officer via 101.

Hi Amy, although an odd site, this can be quite a common occurrence with birds such as oystercatchers. They have been known to nest in car parks and industrial sites as they tend to come away from water and breed inland. I hope this helps!

Hi Kevin, geese and ducks will have these to filter through their food whilst they dabble within water. They act like a sieve as the birds feed, filtering through the food particles. They can also be used to grip food like grass! I hope this helps :)

Hi Tom, we've not heard of any here at HQ but it is worth checking in with your local bird recorder who can be found here to see whether any more have been sighted. I hope this helps! :)
