Because otherwise they will hold the government hostage with regard to joining the coalition. There still is a parliamentary system.

IDF Sgt. Zachary Baumel went missing in Syria 37 years ago.
For 37 years Israelis have been praying for his return to Israel.

I meant while serving as an MK. After serving if the issue is important to someone they can go through a process to get it back.
I can tell you that I have had zero problems with travel and fear of the US not letting me in because of policies I may have voted is far fetched
