Without the competitive pricing of free markets there are no reliable signals that would indicate supply and demand. You always end up with either shortages, surpluses or downgraded quality.

You know me, I’m all in favor of the government taking responsibility over the welfare of those left behind by the machination of free markets. It should redistribute.
What the government shouldn’t do is try to replace business or provide services, as it is grossly inefficient.

It didn’t work for Tzipras and the Syriza socialists in Greece who were recently ousted, didn’t work for the PSUV socialists in Venezuela who starved their people, didn’t work for Erdogan’s Justice and development socialists in Turkey who crashed its economy. It’s unworkable.

The ongoing notion that socialism was never truly tested is what keeps socialism alive I suppose.
But really, there’s nothing new in central planning of the economy; it didn’t work then, it won’t work any better now, the laws of economics simply won’t allow it.

They have been discredited one time too many. The wave of terrorist attacks in the 90’s has shaken confidence in the Oslo peace process, Socialism has lost it’s appeal with Labour’s core constituents, & they have been caught several times trying to enter Bibi’s governments.

Labour used to be the other largest party, and decades ago it was the unchallenged largest party, literally the ruling party in Israel’s first three decades.
Today the Israeli Labour’s position in the polls is so bad some believe they won’t get past the Threshold.

We do have alot of parties, with the two largest (Likud - right wing, Blue&White - centrists) comprising only half of the seats.
It’s the mark of a fractured and sectarian society. A wonder this ship can float against all odds.

The vote is only for parties, that is you vote for a party list of candidates, not for each candidate separately. It’s a proportional state-wide elections with a 3.25% threshold that has to be crossed for a party to win seats in the Knesset.

You know the Israeli electoral system is very similar to the British one, in fact Israel inherited most of its political institutions from the British model.

So if there’s a deadlock again after the elections the centrists will demand Bibi resignation as condition for a unity government. That’s the plan anyway.

For example one of the reasons Israel is having another elections is because the main centrist party (Blue & White) refuses to entertain the idea of a coalition with Bibi Netanyahu, even though they are willing to enter a right-center government with Bibi’s party but without him.

“An educated Donald Trump”, that’s how Jonathan pie called him. That would be a better comparison.
But if that’s the case, Jeremy Corbyn would be an educated Hugo Chavez.
If I was a British centrist I’d ask you to shoot me now and be done with it.
