Scientists are measuring a piece of a meteorite that fell near Allende, Mexico on February 8th. They use a low-background gamma-ray counter in the Lunar Receiving Laboratory, where the first lunar samples will be analysed.

NASA HQ discussed today landing an uncrewed LM as a prerequisite for a crewed landing on the moon. It was decided it was too risky as the capability did not exist, and that development of this capability would seriously delay the Apollo program.

George M. Low has decided today that the astronauts will be required to leave the spacecraft before it is hoisted aboard the recovery carrier, due to concerns that the installation of the auxiliary nylon loop by recovery forces could not be controlled well enough.
