And yet both Con and Lab fanboys are desperately trying to suggest this means the public want Brexit...almost Orwellian Doublethink.

The vocal extremes of the Labour party like to think they are the majority. I'm glad to see this is not the case.

I seem to recall they were talking about cuts of £7bn. The public seemed this would not be deep enough.

Utterly pathetic to be honest. Hard to see how 703 seats gained can be seen as anything other than a tremendous success. It's either delusion or desperation on your part. You'd be better served trying to work out why voters rejected Labour despite the collapse of the Tories.

This is total deflection. Labour had a terrible night given the circumstances. However, instead of consider why, you try to downplay the incredible success of the Lib Dems. In any context, winning 703 seats is incredible. Denying that looks petulant and desperate frankly.

It was so disastrous for Labour because, despite such a Tory collapse, voters did not turn to Labour. Indeed, they lost seats and councils. If Labour can't succeed in such ripe circumstances then there is something to panic about.

Unlikely, Rachael. If this were the case than the overtly remain parties would have done poorly. Indeed, they were the successes. Labour's Brexit fudge has caused such a poor result.

Owen should also note that they didn't turn to Labour. Stinks of desperation, trying to find a scrap of hope after a disastrous election.

So why didn't they vote UKIP? And why didn't the vote also fall?

Agreed, Zoe. The irony is that her abusers see themselves as champions of the vulnerable. The reality is they are part of the problem, little different from the right wing trolls who peddle abuse.

How short your memory is, Aaron. Labour was also campaigning for austerity.

Labour MPs say they won't back a deal without a referendum ‘MPs close to the People’s Vote campaign believe there are actually 150 to 180 Labour MPs out of 229 who will refuse to back a deal struck with May unless there is a confirmatory vote’

Because socialism is a failed model. Capitalism isn't perfect but has been far more effective at reducing poverty than socialism. That's the reality. Socialism is the politics of resentment where success and profit are dirty words. It belongs on the past.

...nationalisation is socialism's answer to everything. There is nothing to suggest it will make things better. The real is issue is the nature of the energy market and how it is regulated.
