From beginning sewer to pattern designer, sewing and teaching sewing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. In addition to writing this blog, I am the independent pattern designer behind Blank Slate Patterns, where you can find great patterns to launch your creativity. I am also one of the four designers behind Pattern Anthology, where we create coordinated collections of sewing patterns sold together during two week events.

For several years as a child I refused to wear anything but pink dresses. My mom finally talked me into some pink pants in second grade.

And then I had kids. So my life now is about sewing in the intersection of ruffles and race cars. Running a business and being a mom. Chasing after the dream of balance. Learning how to get close. Making up life as we go along.

I’m mom to two boys who go by the nicknames Tater and Bean, wife to a Texas high school football coach, and a former theatre teacher. Besides sewing, I love acting, reading, writing, directing, and riding horses.
