Now more than ever, communities need quality information to make decisions about the issues they care about. The Knight Community Information Lab will help foundations get to the heart of the information gaps in their community – and use human-centered design training to develop long-term solutions with the input of local residents.

This is an open call for ideas using immersive storytelling to discover new ways to engage audiences and advance the field of journalism. Knight Foundation, Google News Lab and the Online News Association are partnering to launch an open call for ideas, offering up to $35,000 in funding to test, refine and build out a project.

From May 1 – June 16, 2017, the program is seeking proposals from people and organizations in four cities: Charlotte, Macon, Georgia, Philadelphia, and San Jose, California. We are looking for artistic endeavors that demonstrate one or some of the following characteristics: artistic excellence, authenticity and inclusion and technological innovation.
