Storyline

Following a tip from Batgirl, the Dynamic Trio meet up at the Grimalkin Novelty Company, hideout of the Joker and Catwoman. There, they overhear the arch-criminals' plot and secretly trail them to a stash of hidden gunpowder. A careless mistake spoils the villains' evil plan, however, and they are captured and brought before the Gotham City judge. But when the jury seems less than interested in justice, courtroom mayhem ensues. Written by Twenty Penguins

Trivia

When Batman, Robin and Batgirl arrive at the Lighthouse, Joker says the heroes should be dead. The cliffhanger bridging the previous episode with this one was to originally to involve an elaborate death trap. However, budgetary constraints lead to such a prop being scratched, and while the cliffhanger scenes were rewritten, the Joker's lines referring to it remained in the script. See more »

Goofs

When Joker and Catwoman confront the Terrific Trio at the lighthouse, he blurts out that he thought Batman and Robin were dead following the events of the previous episode. However, earlier he is seen watching them as they left Karnaby Katz's house just before they grabbed Batgirl. See more »

The final ignominious comedown for the once great Catwoman
30 April 2016 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"The Joke's on Catwoman" is an improvement on the previous segment, Cesar Romero's Joker still saddled with Eartha Kitt's abominable Catwoman, both apprehended at the Phony Island Lighthouse of Mr. and Mrs. Keeper, played by real life husband and wife Louie Quinn and Christine Nelson, their banter one of the few highlights. The climax takes place in a courtroom, a novelty setting for BATMAN, with the surprise casting of former White House press secretary Pierre Salinger as Lucky Pierre, expert defense attorney, who has never lost a case. A surprising verdict is quickly undone, as the Dynamic Duo recognize the supposed jurors as lawless confederates of the accused, the usual catfight ensuing, the final assurance that we've seen the last of this unfortunate bogus Catwoman, easily held at bay by none other than the inept Chief O'Hara after a few seconds of clawing at Batgirl, who for once gets more to do and is at her sexiest yet, actually flirting with Batman since this Catwoman couldn't. Cesar Romero would be back once more in "The Joker's Flying Saucer," the best of his final season efforts, while Eartha Kitt would never be missed.
